Why?Get a 3406e cat take it to Pittsburgh power and easily get that horsepower and you will have more torque,a straight 6 has more stroke then a v8 which gives you torque which is your pulling power.

Might be a little tight. I remember when Mack came out with the 440 and 500 V-8. That was a very big bad dog back then. I got to drive a couple of them and they pulled like crazy, but didn't have an engine brake

Always wondered how the European trucks get that much power from the factory when we're pretty much limited to about 550, give or take. Must be something to do with their emission laws or something?

Agreed. The Euro trucks are only allowed to do 55 mph and don't run huge distances for long hours. They don't last five minutes when the going gets tough. They don't get the hours up on an engine the way the US engines do, especially CAT engines.

Their top power output is definitely impressive for an emissions motor at 730 hp/3500nm(2581 ft-lb) torque. Looks like a rather wide motor, as well as having the majority of the accessories at the back of the motor. Good for cabover, nightmare on conventional chassis.

Even if you're in the EU and have a place to source the motor, why on earth would you want to cobble it into a 13-letter manure spreader?

For one thing, they must measure their HP different, because I've often burned off a euro truck with supposedly more HP than mine.

We had the Mack in AU at 610 HP with the Mack Dynatard engine brake (same as a Jacobs) but the 610 was too unreliable, the 500 was probably the best.
