Well I took the wife and I drove up to the Millis terminal in Cartersville. It is only a few miles fom my house and a rather short drive. Seen a Millis truck over at the TA station across the interstate. I am counting down the days until class starts.
Scheduled for training 1/17/2011

I hear you Thnderfoot. I am counting the days too! I was hoping your class might have a cancelation so I could come to the 01/17/11 class. I just talked to my recruiter, Deann, and there hasn't been any cancellations. They didn't have any classes in December so the January classes will be a little larger than usual so most likely they wont be able to get me in the GA school. I am going to go ahead and make airline reservations with Southwest now for WI. I can book a flight for $77.00 for a weekend getaway deal (14 day advance purchase) VS $200+ regular fare.

Sounds like you have a plan there Ironrider.
I feel kind of stupid at times getting all excited about the new chapter of life like a kid at Christmas. Then again maybe that is where the statement only as old as you feel comes from. -
lol Thunder, I bet that is exactly where that statement came from and you couldn't have described the excitement any better.Your days are counting down quick! I am 49 and changing professions. My friends/famies are constantly sayng "you want to drive a truck over the road? Are you really sure thats what you want to do? Have you really thought about all this and what it will be like living on the road?" I just grin and say "Yea, I have thought about it and this is exactly what I want to do." I am very much at peace with this decision.

I'm sure you guys will enjoy the school. Like so many others I am 47 and starting over recently. I drove in the early 90's but am older now and still enjoy it. My priorities are different now I think, and hopefully I'm a little wiser than I was then.
Get the most out of it you can. Use what they teach and tell you. Have fun with it, and keep safety in mind at all times. Good luck to you guys. -
Bear, that is great advice and exactly what I plan to do! I don't expect new equipment or to make a ton of money, just to enjoy what time I have left. Thank you for your words of encouragement.
