That pretty much sums it up eh? Isn't it great? All this information. I've delivered freight a good part of my adult life, albeit in a cargo van. I thought I had a good idea of what I wanted. Thanks to the information on this board I've changed my thought process a few times. I'm saying that as a good thing. My eyes got opened to some things I hadn't considered. To all who are sharing their experiences, not just in this post but on many others too, thank you.

Doe anyone know about the idle policy for SNBC? I have read many different posts about this. I hear that it's load dependent and then I hear it doesn't matter. Anyone currently running with SNBC that can add something to this?
-
It's a different % each month.
They have diesel fired bunk-heaters inside the sleeper, so, they expect you to use that in the winter, so the allowed % of idle is lower in winter.
Because they have no APU providing A/C in summer, the allowed idle % is more during the summer months.
If you have a "heat-in-transit" load(s) , you are "exempt" for that time.pumpkindriving Thanks this. -

Thanks Storm. I have read a lot about different seasons and the load. It makes sense.

Thanks Ethos. These "tricks" seem to be very common. I can't wait to get some idea of what they are.

Anyone else currently going through their first 6 months to a year with SNBC have anything to add?
-
Yes, I work for Schneider Bulk. You have to send in all your idle times. You have to write down the times you idled the truck, and the reason why or else you may lose your performance bonus for the quarter. The first year, you don't need to worry because if you get a sign on bonus, you won't get the quarterly bonuses as a new driver since you are getting the $1,000 quarterly bonus and then no need to report your idle times because you won't get your performance bonus, but you will get your sign on bonus every quarter. After the first year, you will have to send in your idling times or lose your performance bonus if your idling percentage is higher than normal usage.

I been with Schneider six months. It's OK. Just felt lied to about the pay and the milage. They said 2300 miles per week. That is not true with me. I average about 1800 in 7 days of being on the road. That's the average in 6 months and does not include days off. This milage was actual days I was out on the road. I only got the 2300 miles in a week about twice in six months.
