I'm in no rush to run out and get a tanker endorsement
-
Its not percentage. Rate was on the website last I checked when I applied for tanker choice it was $1.15 + fsc for dispatched HHG miles.
-

I thought on the choice board it was then %. -
Only for van...

Do the schneider thing for a year or so., you'll have some winter driving exp. Take it slow and easy keep your driving record clean and start looking around next fall at about 9-10 mo. exp.
Theres a lot of local tanker jobs here, Talk with drivers while loading/unloading and you'll get a feel of where to make your next move to.BAHCO 10 Thanks this. -
the job description page now specifies "per-load revenue" where it used to specify the $1.15+FSC...i would assume that to mean percentage. it's been verified by at least two sources in Houston (a DBL and an OSR) that bulk IC is now 100% choice board. bulk is dangerous, and hard, and tedious, and frustrating, and not worth getting donkey punched for 11 hours a day, unless you own a paid-off truck that you can keep alive and lease onto QC making 5k for one load. stay van folks.
did you know 30+ PSI of air pressure in a tank can rip through a dome lid hinge? i didn't. did you know you can survive a 15 foot fall onto your head after getting punched in the face with a manhole cover? i didn't know that either. that safety vest probably saved his life.SingingWolf and iono12345 Thank this. -
30 psi will not rip thru a dome hinge and if it did you still have 6 wing nuts holding down the dome.
I pressure up to 30 psi all the time.
Now if this person tried opening a pressurized tank that's on him, lack of training I guess.ChicagoJohn Thanks this. -
idk, but winter training slides had a safety montage slide where an intermodal dome lid was open, one side of the hinge was RIPPED open and the dome lid just dangling (one of the two thick a z z loops of STEEL) and the dude laid out on the ground. don't know if intermodals have a pressure relief valve, or maybe they didn't have frangible washout caps on it or what. i just know i won't be doing any more of this 'tap tap tap the dog ears to crack the seal' to let it bleed pressure faster anymore. customer can wait, screw that. anybody happen to know at what pressure the compressor bypass opens up? i thought it was 30ish too.
-
Deleted because this was about an intermodal tank and I don't have any experience with those type of tanks. I apologize
