maybe try answering the question(s) posed in these kinds of threads. or wait til asked. just a thought.
Some new drivers don't really know which questions to ask. Those of us that care, encourage them to ask and give them information to stir the imagination and inquisitiveness. They're more inclined to ask more questions if they know we aren't judgemental.
Sure, and you're a good and decent guy who has helped countless people find a job.......and bless you for that. That said, (and I don't mean this at all in a mean or hateful way), it seems like every time someone recommends Schneider, you jump in with a different company. Maybe Schneider did you wrong at some point, and that's cool. But I guess we were just pointing something out. No offence at all meant. Like I said, you're a good guy @Chinatown, and a blessing to a lot of people.
I recommend Schneider often and keep it short. Tell them to look at www.schneiderjobs.com and then contact a recruiter.
I know a driver that retired from Schneider. Before he retired he bought a home in Costa Rica, paid in full, married a girl from Costa Rica, bought a fishing boat similar to a bass boat, had it shipped to Costa Rica. Then he retired and moved there to enjoy the retired life. @lual knows more about Schneider and the pay than I do.
as to the op question. I dont have 1st hand info for you, but I can share the impression of someone known to me who recently went through it. Had nothing but good things to say about staff and the training itself. Trainers were helpful, answering any questions a trainee had. Patient, kind were the adjectives used. There was a scheduling conflict on their end , so the actual start wss delayed, but the recruiting staff did what was needed to secure the spot. They succesfully completed and tested out for A license in Green Bay. Brought paperwork home and received full license in our home state. Later found otr did not suit them. Have since hired on locally with our public transportation system, stating sni training in combo vehicles was helpful driving city buses. unsure if any reimbursement was required for not completing the apprenticeship program. Can find out though if you want.
It's roughly 3 weeks...... Week 1, mostly backing practice and driving practice. You'll probably be paired with 2 other drivers. Hotels (in Atlanta anyway) are pretty good, (not 5 star, but I'd stay in them in a heartbeat). Week 2, roll out with a driver trainer for as many days as allows to get you back to the facility by Monday. Might be 5 days, might be 7. Week 3, trim up the hairy parts, test out, and by Friday they hand you the keys. There ya go.
Yeah, I need a break. In a couple weeks I'll be starting a 2 month vacation. Last vacation was 3 months, so this one is cut short. Intermittent logging on to TTR.
