36 to start is a joke . Look what other starter companies are paying 43 to 46 to start.

If it wasn;t for the short training process and the ability to get into the Choice program after 6 months with them , I would never consider Schneider because of their pay.

Pius the administrative charges they want to Hit you with if you elect to take partial pay in perdiem is a little over the top.

Why would they do that. They have to make double that amount on their SS and comp savings.

Everyone keeps mentioning these better paying companies for newbies but I haven't found any on the West coast. Most of the back East companies have a hiring area only.

If others pay souch to start there's a reason. I'd bet the miles are low but hey I suggest going to where you feel most comfortable.

Companies call that "regional scale". Used to be bad with many of the companies in the Dakotas in the past. One benefit of the oil boom up there. It did help change that somewhat

And I will never again work for a company that did that per diem stuff. It is only a way to save them some money. The one year I did that, a long time ago, is the only year I've not had enough withheld to cover me. After giving the govt part of 52 paychecks, and had to write them a 53rd check in April. What them companies generally call per diem pay is not "pay" at all. It is just them not witholding enough to satisfy Uncle Sam.

I drove a truck almost 15 years before buying my first truck. I worked as a company driver another 6 years before trying it again. I can't imagine owning a truck after 6 months. I wish everyone success, but I believe that is a recipe for disaster.

LMAO! Schneider doesn't start new drivers off at 36cpm. Its more like 30cpm. I've almost got 4 years in and I'm at 37cpm.

What are these companies you speak of that are starting drivers out at 43-46 cpm? I've never seen anyone advertising rates even close to that. Top pay of 43-46 cpm, yes. But that's not what they pay new drivers.... That's the "top pay" meaning no matter how long you've been with the company or have been driving, that's they most they will pay for anyone with many years of experience.

Per diem is an option. If you don't like it then opt out of it. As simple as that.

Been around the block a few times kids. Aint nothing hard here,

if you are working for a company and only making 37 CPM after 4 years of service says something about your ability to seek out a better living.
