The shop I was confused we it, if they meant the whole thing was going or if they wrre only working on intermodal as thats staying and we can still fuel. You say that now because your young. But in 35-40 years you'll b wishing for automatic. Sore rotator cup, bad knees yeah enjoy while u can.
Swamprat55 Thanks this. -
The joy of shifting quickly fades. I been driving 6 years and only been in a auto for the last 4 months and I love it. So much easier and simpler. Less stuff to think about so you can concentrate on the traffic and stuff around you rather then trying to find a gear you just missed cause you didn't shift quick enough going uphill or you hit a pothole and it popped outta gear. I'll stick with my auto. I've found the guys that don't like autos- have never driven one.
ethos and Swamprat55 Thank this. -

I couldn't agree more. I loved the auto I had and would switch back in a minute.mattbnr Thanks this.

I was one of those that swore I would never drive an auto or use electronic logs...... Ha! I prefer an auto over a manual any day and would dread going back to paper logs.
mattbnr Thanks this. -
The only time I drove a manual, was in truck driving school. I been driving for 7 yrs and I love my auto. I guess, I could drive a manual if I had too.

My usual truck is a 13 speed Mack Tri-Axle water truck. Occasionally I get to drive our Pete with a 6 speed Allison auto. The auto is so much easier, especially on back roads where conditions can change quickly and I can't miss a shift. The only thing is when I have been driving for a while, not thinking about it, I will slam my left foot on the floor looking for the clutch. (Former Schneider driver, thinking of returning...)

Today marks the end of 10 out of 12 weeks of classroom time at driving school. I'm on the down hill side now and getting anxious. I can't wait to get CDL in hand and turn my Schneider pre-hire into a hire.
Of all the companies I have looked at to date and have pre hires from Schneider National looks, to me, to be the best choice to become a company driver. Learn the industry then possibly move to IC and retire comfortably in a nice WARM climate. -
Does anyone know if Schneider National is doing anything about their low DOT marks for vehicle maintenance?
