sorta is!!!! 2Q last year I showed 103 points x .02 x 26K in miles(roughly, dedicated). $525
OTR is better suited to this model than Dedicated div is. But Ded gets reliable miles plus guaranteed accessoral pay. Made more on Ded than I would have OTR or regional in Yr gross. -
So in 3 months you got $525. So you got roughly $8 a day extra for every day you drove, assuming you went home on weekends. $525/66 days out. Not sure what you make dedicated per mile I'll assume .38cpm. That's 21 miles a day that your getting extra. If you drove faster then 60/61 could you drive 21 miles further every day? 64 on foot is 3mph faster. So 3*10 hours= 30 miles * .38= 11.40 a day.

Was never like that on my old tractor with cruise at 65mph. My overspeed was crazy. With my new truck with proper cruise set at 60 mph my overspeed has dropped to below standards. Overspeed isn't based on ecm but what your business is at solos are 60 teams are 65.

If you get hired for the Bulk driver position out of Charlotte NC do they train you there or send you elsewhere.

Your math isn't wrong, but it isn't quite right either. In the short term you could drive more miles every day by dropping the hammer and maxing your overspeed. In theory that will end up increasing your pay in the short term. You'll lose the .02 cpm the bonus gives you over the course of the year but the extra potential miles will make that up. However overspeed also factors into your annual performance metrics which determine your pay raise. My annual performance score was 100, thus I got a .02 cpm raise.
In the first year the lead foot costs you .02 cpm, the second year .04, the third year .06, and by then you'll be on here complaining how you've never gotten a raise and you can't make any money at Schneider.
Beyond that if your overspeed is consistanly over 5% then your DBL with bring you in for a chat, then put you on a Commitment to Excelence Plan (CTE) which is one step away from getting fired. Ask DFO how much money he saves by running 60 instead of 65. He did the math a little while ago and it was staggering. It's very understandable why SNI wants us driving 60 instead of 65. It's the difference between them making a profit and not.
When the company is making money there is a CHANCE for drivers to see more money. When the company is barely scrapping by, the drivers are the first to get hurt. If not directly in the pocket book, but in delayed purchases of new equipment, etc.
Beyond that almost all of my disptaches can be easily done doing 60, the extra 2-3 mph typically won't dramatically impact my pay. My priorities in terms of driving are:
1) What will keep me safe
2) What will make me happy
3) What will make me the most money
4) What the company wants me to do.mickimause, jakecat22 and Swamprat55 Thank this. -
You will go to Cory, which is basically Pittsburg.

I'm losing my 66mph truck
They are selling all the black 56# trucks and mine is slated to be sold. They wanted me to move out of it on my break and into a 2012, but it was in the shop getting some major work done. I told them no thanks and to just keep me in this one until they sell it. Should have seen the jaws drop. I get pissed because that stupid bunk heater never works and the it refuses to idle unless it's like 8 degrees, but the thing has only stranded me once, but it was a simple repair that I just didn't even consider. I didn't want to get put into a truck that already has problems. So I get to keep her until she is retired.
Got my taxes down and I did alot better than I thought and I didn't have to pay. So I now have Houston Money . So I really need to sit down and consider my options. I really want to add more expertise to my resume and Tanker work is creme de la creme and pays on the higher end and seems to weed out the guys who don't care and don't treat this as a profession. I feel that I would do well and enjoy it and as weird as it sounds, I love going to chemical plants and places like that. They are just so interesting to me.
But that's a big move and I was NOT impressed with Houston when I went down there, both with the OC and the city. But maybe I just saw things on a bad day.
But at least I'm at the point where it is time to make a move. I would like to stay here and learn tankers, but I really don't have that many options locally and I would like to stay out and save some money. I also hear that Bulk customers treat you better. Tired of bumping docks and getting yelled at because Schneider was 5 days on the the load.
Guess I better start researching apartments and such. I hope I can get one, with my house just going through foreclosure
Swamprat55 Thanks this. -
In my experience tanker customers do treat you better. You deal with the same customers a lot and normally it's smaller places.

I was dedicated. M-F. Home the full weekend. roughly 1800-2000 miles per week. .32cpm. but each days run earned an extra $40-70 per day. Grossed on average 900-950 per week. Home almost every day. In the truck on average 1 per week. Worked 55-65 hrs per week.
now I'm home EVERY day, make roughly the same per week and work between 45-55 hrs per week. In a daycab and on the odd occasion I may not get back its hotel time!
In your model above you assume there is run run run. Not always so. there IS down time be it next load, 34 , repairs, live load/unload , the SNI game hunt the mt ,etc. You also assume your ave daily speed would remain constant at 64. not so.jakecat22 Thanks this.
