Hey guys, I have a couple of questions. First, there have been times when I am looking for MTs and have come across SNI trailers, white in color, w/ starting letters MWTA. I have been very tempted to take one, are they some kind of dedicated? Can they be used for VTL?

Second, I spend most of my time in the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley region, the Northeast, and southeast. Every time I del close to the Mississippi River, I get another load going east. Why do I not get to go west? I'm OTR/VTL out of Lebanon, TN.

Those are dedicated trailers and you can't take those. The only trailers that you can take are the orange schneider trailers. You can also take emerson trailers if you run across them. They are 4 digit trailer numbers, 3295, 4120, somewhere that range. They usually have "property of sni" on the front or side of the trailer, and they are white with blue lettering. You won't run into them often but you can use them if you want. They are all air ride suspension trailers from a former dedicated account. Of course, make sure to check the registration plate to make sure they are schneider property LOL. Have seen other emerson trailers that are property of other companies, but not too many at all.

And in regards to your second question, don't expect to ever go west of I-35. They don't like to ever send us out west unless you request to. Seems like freight is limited and they use that freight to get western drivers back out west from the east, leaving us stuck in the east all the time.

If you want to go West, just talk to your DBL. I run out the same OC.

Okay thanks, let me throw another one out here. Day vs. night driving. I have for the most part run during the day, there have been a few times when I have run overnight to make a 04:00 del and such. I wounder if I might get more miles per week or more drop & hook type loads by running at night. Of course, traffic is much easier at night, and it becomes easier to fine parking at truckstops after daybrake. But I don't know if it is worth it.

Freight and PU/Del will dictate that. If your load allows and you can do it, go for it. Otherwise you might find it beneficial to remain on the sameish kind of schedule. Easier on the body that way.

    Have the planners gone insane?

Delivered a load to the Wal-mart in Wintersville. Had my dispatch updated to Glanville WV. Not to a customer, just to the town. Got a message from my DBL that I have been put on stand by for a load. Don't know when it will be ready, could be all day, could be a couple of hours(have been here 3 hours so far). Sitting in a Wal-Mart parking lot "standing by". Just got a message that "I could be waiting all day for the load(worst case scenario) but they are paying me $15 an hour to sit and wait." By they, they mean the shipper is paying to have a driver stand by, but the shipper won't let me park there LMAO.

$15 an hour to sit and do nothing. What a life!

Who said I was complaining??? LOL. They can sit me here all week for $15 an hour. I just don't understand why they would do it. They have no clue when the load will be ready. It isn't like it is in the middle of nowhere to get a driver here. I am only 15 miles south of I70. I could understand if it was 2 hours from civilization but drivers go by here all the time. I am also well aware SNI is probably getting paid more than $15 and hour for me to sit here, which is probably why they don't mind doing it.

    bigtssa and BossOutlaw88 Thank this.

Any info on regional intermodal with Schneider? I'm thinking of taking a position in Charlotte. Thanks

Gotta love that! Awesome! Shipper must have some sort of rush to get the product moving once it's confirmed.
