Being a Small Business Owner is more Demanding than children. It's not about the ability to drive a truck it's about your ability to run a Business which is what being a O/O or IC or L/O is. The driving of the truck is the easiest part of my day.I usually spend about 4 hours a day looking ahead for my business on the load board. I'm constantly pre planning and always trying to maximize my hours. I constantly have to weigh the decisions of my business from fuel to miles to revenue to expenditures to home time to taxes and even where to fuel and stop and eat...If you're not willing to do more than drive then a company driver is your best option. If you can't manage money then a company driver is your best option. If you're up for hard work and the rewards that can come with it then research the options that you have. I will tell you that if you think you're just gonna drive and nothing else you will fail. If you can't be dedicated to your business and put it first then you'll fail.I enjoy the challenge of making the tough decisions, I don't want someone else controlling my day or my future. I like the ability to either Fail or SUCCEED and which ever happens it's all on ME.In closing the best thing I can conclude with is this it's not for everyone and everyone's not for it.

So, I have a question for a company driver...
im im a student and still looking at companies, but I just called the recruiter line and talked to someone in the benefits office about you guys insurance. She told me they offer United Healthcare at 103 a week for a family of for with a 3000 deductible? My question is, is this your only option???? I mean 8300 a year for healthcare is robbery. If i do sign on with Schneider I think I'll just pay the fine for no insurance. ($386 a year) -
I was a company driver and they have multiple options but with the way healthcare is nowadays it's all robbery

Is the united an HMO plan or PPO? Just doing the math and calculating my known medical revolving costs I'm at about 5K total for the year. I know there is always the whatif, but I'd be better off putting a hundred dollars a month into a savings account than to just give my money away to a company that won't be there in five years. Or will deny any claim more than 10K regardless of reason.

Lastly I have a question for anyone in the bulk division. Have any of you ever dropped a trailer in Louisville KY. I have tried google maps, Google, the yellow pages, everything and I can't find a schneider yard in Louisville. Not even anybody at my school, which has been here for 14 years, has ever heard of a schneider terminal in Louisville. Closest they know of is in Indy. Yet the posting and the recruiter office says they do have a yard here. So my question is, where is it? I'd like to know where I'm gonna be parking my POV. If it's where I think it might be, that ain't happening.
