Funny thing is I then got into a big ordeal with operations and customer service in which they were complaining about the fact that all of our trailers on site are loaded with pallets and that they aren't paying us storage fees to use the trailers. Umm, not my problem lol

Then they tell me to tell security that they are going to have to unload the pallets off of one of the trailers so they could load my load. Yeah right lol
Anyways they pulled the load from me and I had to sit the rest of the day. Not like I cared though since the load was going to New Jersey

I believe as a company driver you just get milage, for really short runs its a sliding scale, under 25 miles is a flat 25 I think. Unless you work it with your DBL to get paid different.

Had a fight with my teammate for mentioning it if we keep on duty down a little we can have more driving hours to make more money. I just suggested it and he got all mad at me. This is the guy who always wants to stay on 4 weeks so he can make good money while he wastes valuable time that loses him and me money. The last four days he had 4hr 20 min more on duty than me with him only doing three more drops/ hooks in total. He says he has to show 45min/ 50min on duty so he doesn't get a ticket from police. Also when I said there's no point of wasting 30 min fueling up which he did couple times he said its actually what the company suggests. Am I in the wrong for suggesting it? I'm not forcing him to do anything.

No you are not wrong. He does not have to show 45/50 min. Pretrip is only 15. Post isn't required, just the report. So , in my opinion, his 4h 20m was about 3 hours way too much!! Also, if you are driving the way we're supposed its not likely you'll need to speak to the police or dot or anyone.

I fuel 100-150 gallons in around 10-15 minutes tops. This often includes a trip to the bathroom. And then I'm down the road.
If it cannot be resolved , I might consider asking your dbl how to best handle it? If you have your highway to success book, you could call him out on the BS.

You , of course, want to maximize your drive time, and minimize you OD ND time.

There was a time he was doing a 30 min Pre trip and a 30 min post trip but after some convincing he changed it to 15/pre and 10/post. Now with this I bit my toungue for a while but now with getting so many small loads I told myself its not worth wasting all this time and I have to at least let him know. I looked in the book but not sure what to look for. Will the book state you only have to do 30min for drop and pickups?

There is no set minimum times for any activity if you are running elogs. The time it takes is the time it takes. Once he is done with a pretrip he can go back off duty if he needs/wants to while doing paperwork. Same thing with fueling. As soon as those pumps are hung up you go off duty - I generally show 5-10 on duty, and then off duty until I pull on the road and the QC kicks me on the drive line. Show him page 96 of the HTS book - it shows logging a 6 min post trip.

He does have a point that all time spent backing/coupleling/interacting with a customer should be logged on duty not driving. For ease I just show 5-7 minutes of work on arrival and then off duty. I figure if I'm waiting on someone else to do their job I'm off duty.

not specifically. I would think it would be in the logging section? It should give examples that show a filled out day sheet. with the time flags on paper. BUT it would/should state 15 pre. Post is much less as the items to check are few. What to check are on those laminated handouts they give in orientation. If you don't have them, next time you stop at an OC ask for a set at the fuel desk. In addition, you can ask an OSR(tan shirt) the SNI way. They'll tell you.

The other thing is to log it like you do it. With elogs , we aren't necessarily bound by the 15 min blocks.
