Some old timer royally screwed me today. He obviously dropped his empty trailer so hard that he broke the cross member in the landing gear of a brand new trailer. The mechanic arrived only to tell me that the bar is a "special" part made for this trailer.

OK, I haven't pulled a HAZMAT load for about 3 months, but I just got one assigned for tomorrow. Now, I remember last time I had to call the hotline to go over everything, blah blah blah.....BUT, this time I got a message that I had to call before I leave with the load, BUT at the end of the message, it said "BTW you get $25 for making this call".

I don't ever remember getting paid for the call to the hotline. Is this new? Not that I am complaining, I think it sucks they don't pay extra for HM loads but this makes it better. Especially since I am BTing 79 miles to pick it up and deliver it 38 miles LOL

Yes, $25 for making the call. I did it about three weeks ago.

The $25 is new and it was instituted for two reasons. First too many drivers were complaining about not getting paid more for HM loads.

The second is the number of drivers who don't cross the ts and dot the is before hauling a HM load, which is reflected in our CSA score.

Come to bulk, we haul hazmat all the time. It's no big deal, watch your routing, stop at the railroad crossings and if you don't have an MSDS then that little orange book will save you a fine. Orange book is usually inside the permit binder. I think it's great you guys are getting extra pay for it. Good policy.

LMAO apparently the driver that dropped this load in Seville DIDN'T call the HM team before taking it. I showed up to get it, the seal was broken and there was a note that it was red tagged. After looking at the load, the driver didn't secure it and it leaked after shifting from Baltimore. After calling the HM team, they told me the driver was pulled into the scale and inspected 2 miles before the drop yard, put out of service for having an unsecured HM load.

Needless to say, I didn't touch it and left it. First off, it was totes, and the amount that was on it was to much for just HM, it needs a tanker endorsement which I don't have. Second, it wasn't secured properly. So, I got pulled off the load. Will I still get paid for the call? LMAO

Look out for that scale house on I76 in Seville. Got a level 1 inspection done there and the cops were talking about how much they hate schneider for being non union, so I guess that nailing drivers with level 1 inspections will show those corporate types...ok yeah, it was a hazmat load I was pulling at the time too.

Also, they don't like how schneider doesn't pay their state tolls by avoiding i80

Sounds like a lawsuit to me. Of course I have passed that scale a hundred times with no problems but hey, it could happen.
