I was in the market for a new car and when I saw this one on the lot, I knew it was the one for me. I am partial to orange since working for Schneider, lol

Since I'm joining the Schneider family next week I thought I would share my hobby with anyone who may be interested. We all drive to support our families or just ourselves, but having a hobby to distract from the stress of driving and the chaos of life in general is healthy. I have been flying rockets since around 1978 and several years ago moved from the small model rockets to much larger High Power Rockets. Below is a video of one of many rockets I fly regularly. This rocket, a 4" Patriot crashed last Summer and this is the memorial video for it. There is some good on-board footage as well as a lot of launch shots. I think all the launches shown in the video are flying on J motors. This rocket is almost repaired and should be ready to fly again when the Spring flying season rolls around. If anyone is interested in learning more about High Power Rocketry, let me know. I would be happy to share my knowledge and experience.

Welcome aboard, I hope things go well for you here at the big pumpkin. I remember watching a story about Amateur Rocketry back years ago when The Discovery Channel had great programming. I hope you don't have a CATO.
skyviper73 Thanks this. -
Hey gang, do any of you know if you can fuel at the Walmart DCs with Schneider maintenance? Or is it only for the dedicated fleet?

Watching those rockets take off reminded me of building the (much smaller) versions with my dad. Man it was so exciting getting to press the button on the igniter controller and watch that thing go PFFFWSHSSHHSHHHHHHHH off into the sky and parachute back down. Had one we put a little too much motor in and although I was probably 8 at the time I'm still convinced to this day that it got sent into orbit.
Good luck with the remaining repairs and look forward to seeing some more footage.
How many times have you had one of these land on a parked car nearby?Last edited by a moderator: May 9, 2015
skyviper73 and mickimause Thank this. -
As for landing on cars, this 1:30 min. video shows the closest I have come to denting up a car. Too close for comfort. On the previous launch the day this happened, my rocket landed about 2 miles the other direction, so I though I would solve that problem by angling the launch rail a bit more the other way. Well, my non-mathematical judgement put the rocket pretty much straight above the flight line. My bad!

42 min left on the 8 hour clock. 41 miles from Obetz. I feel soooo much safer now that I get to sit for 30 min. And extend my day.
