Been trying to run 8.75 hours a day so I can have hours to run every day. I'm not liking it at all.I'm going to go back to trying to have 5 10 hours days and then 2 light days.I always struggle to find a place to sleep in time at night. Every day this week I end up my final 15 minutes. Spending 4 days to get 1300 miles this weekend. Delivered in Porterville,CA at Walmart. They only had one guard working so it took an hour to do a drop and hook and get in and out. Went and loaded at a cheese plant in Tulare. The directions were wrong and it took a few tries to find the right gate at this place, God it was huge! I dropped that load for Relay at Sears in Delano. Then BT all the way up to Just south of Fresno to pick up a MT, then headed over to Kraft in dropped and hooked and scaled and found a place to sleep with 7 minutes left. Went from fresno to Phoenix. Dropped my load at the phoenix drop yard(horrible place) for a relay and they of course had no MT's. Sent in a trailer request, and waited, tried to call, and waited,,,,,,,,,,,,and the A driver showed up to pick up a relay and THANK Hey-zues, that He dropped an MT! I grabbed it and ran over to Quaker, dropped and hooked and make it to the AZ/Cali border, on my way to Modesto. to modesto. Worked 7 hours and got a whole 250 miles.

Sounds like fun. Do you run only CA/AZ/NV?

Try starting your day earlier say 0400. Also dont worry about how many hours a day you run. If a load takes 15 hours to drive then 15 hours are coming off your 70 no matter how you divide it up. 7.5 +7.5 equals 15. 10+5 equals 15. See what I am saying?

That's how I do it because time is money in trucking. The sooner you can deliver that load, the sooner it can get turned in for payment.

Why is it that on some deliveries when I arrive early workflow will show me as 800 something minutes late?

It goes by what you set your eta. You are allowed 3 hours early or 30min late.

Thats not always true. If you get a preassignment that has an eta set as 1800, but you don't adjust your eta correctly (before accepting) until AFTER 1800, then the system holds you to the 1800 eta regardless of what you set and accept it to.

example, you get a preassignment with an auto generated eta of 1800, the current load doesn't finish unloading you until 1900, you then set your eta to 700 the next morning, accept it, make it active, then "arrive" at 700 the next day. You're considered late by the system because you didn't adjust your initial eta until after the auto generated one.
