What a bad start to my week... On Monday I damaged the catwalk on my beloved old company truck at a customer's yard. Tuesday I realized I'd forgotten my wallet at home, had to drive 90 miles out of route to pick it up. And today, got caught up in that major traffic jam in Indiana because of I-65 NB being closed near Lafayette. Not to mention the Omnitracs shutdown today. Whew, here's hoping for a smooth second half of the week.

Cascadia air compressor - electrical power, gear driven, or something else?
-
Should be gear driven.gentleroger Thanks this.
-
If similar to Detroit 60, gear driven off injection pump, maybe wrong, been a few moons elapsedgentleroger Thanks this.
-
It's belt driven by an electrical gear cooled by air and greased by fluid.
There did that cover itmickimause and 91B20H8 Thank this. -
From looking at some pictures of DD15s it looks like the compressor is gear driven... off some kind of gear train at the REAR of the engine. Interesting.
Don't think I've ever seen a belt driven compressor (unless its an auxiliary compressor of some kind) on a big truck. Wonder if they exist? Would suck to break a belt going downhill lol.
N14s had a setup like that, compressor was driven off the gears under the front cover and then the fuel pump attached to the back of the compressor. Sometimes the shafts or couplers would shear.
On my C15 its just by itself up front.91B20H8 Thanks this. -

At least with that if it loses air pressure I can grab the steering wheel and stand on the brakes until it sort of slows down LOLmickimause, 91B20H8 and TennMan Thank this.

Love it when a mistake exposes an opportunity for longer multi-day runs for me.
Message to another driver was sent to my truck by mistake. Referencing texas run (s). These runs are great. 2 loads a week close to 3k in paid miles.
In telling them they made the mistake , I made the request AGAIN for runs like that. Presented me with mon pu return fri/sat or midweek pu somewhere but reset on the road. Need the ok from my fiance for that. Happy wife = happy life deal.mickimause, dieselfuelonly and 91B20H8 Thank this.
