Well Hello, Howdy, and just simply Hi...
Been a long time since I posted anything, so here is my semi-annual update.
Fuel gauges: never seen one on any FL truck that was near accurate. Always read low. I've always used the dash readout and continue to do so. From my first FLD back in '96 to this '15 Cascadia....
Took a large chunk of July off. MIL passed away the end of June (Alzheimer's), then we had a planned vacation to CA for the middle of July. Other than that, nothing too eventful. My Cascadia continues to perform well....at least the engine. The front end has been a battle and continues to be one. Next stop is a FL dealership to see if we can finally get it figured out. I won't bore anyone with the details, but it has to do with the camber, which apparently is a FL-dealer-exclusive fix. The overall build quality is questionable. Too many loose screws caused by over-tightening....the latch on the pull-out table broke from not fitting correctly....the sleeper door has a gap at the bottom (as do many)...but the truck is pretty rattle-free. The Idle Free system is a POS. Mine failed again, this time after running through a truck wash. I decided the hell with it. even though it may be just the cooling fan switch. It was pretty worthless if the outside temp was much over 80 anyway. I idled as I needed to. Still do.
Been running a LOT of PA and NY state...up and down 81 and 88. I'll do it as long as the rates are favorable and the weather isn't white. Made good money in August and September.
The new contract: I haven't signed it yet. Bottom line is I'm still deciding if I really want to. My guess is that I will go ahead and do it. I don't run a lot of toll roads, so that won't be much of an issue for me.
I'm seeing a TON of new IC trucks in Charlotte. Too many for my own personal preference, but I haven't noticed a shortage of loads. I'm pretty active on the load board, constantly checking and re-checking. Win some, lose some. I'd say my average is better than most, though. Luck and timing.
I understand DFO is no longer a pumpkin...what gives? Where did he land? And has any other familiar IC left?
I didn't go back and read everything, but it seems there was a good bit of sniping. Glad I missed it.
Hoping you are all safe and profitable....gentleroger and TennMan Thank this. -
DFO is dealing with stress issues, he's taking new meds an doing better. he works for a small construction co. running dumps and other equipment. He likes it for now. he is keeping the KW. Good to have you back. sorry for your loss.
mickimause and 48Packard Thank this. -
3125 miles for the week.
Anyone know how an "excessive speed" violation counts toward the bonus. I accidentally got my first one today for a couple second while in Utah (80mph speed limit, 10k lb load, went 70 down a little hill for a couple seconds before I noticed it and turned the engine brake on)
I'm gonna be absolutely pissed if I'm disqualified from my bonus because I went 70mph for a couple seconds in a 80mph speed zone. -
oragonads Thanks this.

The bonus pdf is under documnents but it's way out of date. Overspeed is not part of the bonus metrics per say, but your dbl does have the authority to revoke the bonus for having more than 5% overspeed at their discretion. Until my predictive cruise started "working" my overspeed was usually between 1 and 2%, with the majority being "excessive". My "friend" (wink wink nudge nudge) hit eighty a couple of weeks ago and not a word was said.
mickimause and oragonads Thank this. -
