Man I would think they would get you in a newer truck. Funny how some luck into a new truck right out of orientation and others get the experienced trucks. Must have been a team truck

I was wondering what they were doing with the TE's in regards to AMTs. I am quite surprised that they gave you a truck with a fixed passenger seat.
-
I understand the why, I'm objecting to the underlying thinking and plain old not caring about some of the most critical drivers in the fleet.
SNI relies on using new, low paid drivers to drive their profit margins. Without people to train those new hires Schneider can't sustain their business model. It just feels like TE's keep getting the short end of a smelly stick. Curriculum and standards get changed but we don't get notified until the student shows up with new paperwork. New shift points are implemented but we're not told, and why the #### is our curriculum team working on new shifts point when we're going full auto? Why not fix the ####### curriculum so new guys know how to do the ####ing job!
Would it have been so hard to put TE's into the last set of manual trucks we acquired? Had I gone into a new truck spring of 2015 it would have lasted until every new driver would be going into an AMT. The training group was asking these questions and was told "we have a plan". That plan has gotten TE's put into POS trucks because they are the only ones available for assignment. Also why the #### couldn't Schneider have planned ahead and given my DBL a little bit of notice that my truck was going to be taken out of service at 500,000? Then maybe we could have planned and schemed to get me into a truck that I could keep for at least a year. Or maybe I could have prepped my truck for the transfer when I was at home or been able to be routed in without having to sit for 18 hours.
Again I'm tired and frustrated by things outside of work which makes it really hard to be positive in the face of extreme annoyance. As to the fixed passanger seat - no one knew about it until I opened the door to the truck. My dbl did everything he could to make sure it was going to be acceptable. A better question is why are we installing cheap ### seats to begin with? -
Speaking of cheap seats, I've been wondering something. Compared to most of the OTR megas out there, Schneider seems to be pretty far down on the list for equipping their trucks with driver comfort in mind. i.e. satellite tv's, APU's, fridges, etc. So why do they spend the money on the passenger side access door in the bunk. Most other Cascadia's I see do not have the operational door but have everything else that a driver could want. Not important but just one of the many things I ponder during the day. -
If you ride in the passenger seat everyday, I'd refuse the truck.
Your back, shoulders, knees and every other joint is going to ache.91B20H8 Thanks this. -
CaptainDaveG Thanks this.

I'd just tell 'em, "Look, riding in the passenger seat is a full time deal in my truck; whether is me or my student. Gonna need an air ride......" -
That's definitely what I'm going to say but I need the big guns to get the shop to do it. Since the Navy has decommissioned all the battleships that means I have to wait until Monday when my DBM and Ops manager come in.
I'm more kissed about having to move again in 6 months than I am about the seat. -
