Update: I have officially been put on a CTE. Had an in-person meeting with our Division Safety Manager. She was firm but polite and professional. The duration is 90 days. I am expected to go 90 days without a CER, and two years accident free. So it's back to basics for now, not taking any chances, and being extremely careful inside customer's yard, truck stops, ect.

I have spent a great deal of time trying to figure out why, after 3 years of flawless driving, that these things have happened. My leading theory is my eyesight, 3 out of 4 accidents occurred at night. A year and one half ago, I began to notice that I was having trouble judging speed and distance of on-coming headlights at night. Then just a year ago, when I was on the Walmart Account, I began to have trouble seeing signs, and trailer numbers around the DC at night. So I went to a eye doctor last spring to get new glasses, and I complained about it. After she did a full exam, ashe said that my eyes are healthy. Now it so bad that I really don't like to drop and hook at night. So we shall see what happens in the coming weeks, stay tuned...

what did she mean by healthy? and what did she say about your night vision issues you shared here?

as a rule , how are you about using GOAL? Maybe you can get some magnetic lighting to help you see behind you in certain instances.

    SingingWolf and 91B20H8 Thank this.

Maybe you should get a second opinion about your eyes?

May seem like a silly question, but do you wear sunglasses during the day?

I went years never using sunglasses and now lights at night bother my eyes. Just a thought.

You've got a good mindset about getting back to basics. Drivers can get over confident. Going back to doing things like you were just starting may just be the right solution.

man, I'm 57 and it didn't take me long to learn that I don't need to be parking after dark.....sooooo, up every day between 4 and 6 and parked by 5. Like Clint Eastwood said, "A man's got to know his own limitations."
    good luck brother
