I'm in the same boat. These #### truck payments suck. I really screwed up by getting rid of my old FLD. Not only did I gain a payment, but am also losing $400 a week in fuel costs. I'm really contemplating giving it back to the dealer just to get out from under it and buying an ex-company truck with cash. I know it will be a used n abused old orange truck, but if I can pull 7mpg out of it then it pays for itself in 10 months

BigBadBill, since I haven't seen a direct response to me yet.... I'd thought I'd update about the Volvo D12 reflashing...
I called and spoke to these people yesterday. They prefer that the ECM is removed & sent to them since they are extremely busy during the day, they do most of the reflashed at night.
If the ECM is overnighted to them on a Monday, they can have it flashed on Tuesday or Wednesday & back to you for reinstallation on Friday.
They told me that they can take my 465hp 1650 ft pounds of torque & turn it up to a 550 hp 1900 ft pounds of torque easily. No mechanical changes at all. They disable all the emissions crap but recommend that it stays mounted to the engine for decorational purposes.
We also talked about my operation.... With what I do, coast to coast, they said I should be able to see 6.5 to 7 mpg running the speed limit fully grossed with the added hp.
The dude gave me a hardon..... So hopefully I will be able to pull my ECM when I go home in July & send it to them. Providing I've got the money.
The $1500 price tag is the going rate from what I have been told by others who have had their ECM's flashed... -
a 14l isnt much better then what u have. i know, its what i have.
oh and a few grand extra and it can be any color you want -
I have never pulled an ECM. Is it hard on the 780?
When looking at time with shipping is now we are looking at lost revenue on top of flashing. Since they are less than 2 hours from me I may pull, drive to them, grab a room and get it back the next day.
Thanks for the follow-up. -
After I sat down and worked it all out, I figured it may just pay to keep my truck I got now. My $1200 month payment isn't that bad, and $150 of that is my physical damage insurance. Once I get it flashed by Mr. Haney I think will be happier, plus I just washed it at the Truck-O-Mat and #### she looks good.
I ran 60mph from Paris to Indy on my last load grossing 34k and I was able to get 5.7mpg, which I figure is not that bad considering the style of truck and engine.
Also, I just got all the shocks replaced at the Indy shop this weekend, so it should ride much better too. -

The D12 ECM is mounted on the left side of the engine block. Just forward of the starter.
