As far as running to the midwest and back and home every weekend it can happen but you'll take a hit on the rates like that...

What do they pay for, what kind of fuel discounts, tire discounts, ect? Practical miles or HHG? Paid with surcharge loaded and empty? Do they pay all fuel taxes, tags, all insurance including cargo, ect.

That's cheap, but if they pay a lot of things others don't, it could work out in this time of low rates. You could do long loads and come out.

The trick to mileage pay is don't do short stuff. Every dispatch is off on miles. The long loads have less free miles you give up over 5 loads that are short for every dispatch.

It's all about what you net. You want to net the most with the least amount of miles and time. Company #1 could pay 1.65 per mile, but YOU pay for everything, company #2 could pay 1.25, buy THEY pay for everything and have a great fuel program, and you net more at the lower paying company.

You have to do the math over and over to see what nets out best.

I live in MN and I have been trying to do that home every or every other weekend I just dont like the pay cut I need to take. So I go where the $$ is. I am still home every 2-3 weeks But I try and stay home for almost a week at a time.

Thats .40 a mile difference, i dont think a little bigger fuel discount, paying for plates and etc adds up to $40,000+ over a year.
Running cheap is still running cheap.
I doubt that driver even gets $1.25 all miles driven to the truck

    I'm only averaging 2400-2800 miles a week.

I've had loads where I'm working 100 mileage free and I bring it up and they use map questto justify the mileage pay.

If I was on mileage I'd run as many miles as I could get preferably 3700 or more.

the thing is I don't want to be dispatched by someone who doesn't care about my buisness. I would rather learn the lanes and where freight is and take a few bumps to learn so later on when I get my own authority I know what I'm doing. they don't go to bed worried about my pay I do. it's what's so said about this industry.
