Did you start with their flatbed division? If so, I wouldn't be too surprised about this. Definitely seen a few Schneider flatbeds around Gary that we're all of the above with some horrible tarp work and driving around.
Schneider driving training only 7 days, really??

This thread has been extremely helpful for me
I am looking at starting with schneider on 11/29 I drove for KLLM in 2010 but had some trouble at home and had to come off the road.
I have not driven sense then I've been making good money in machine maintenance (until I got fired)
I've talked with a recruiter and I am looking at Regional so I can be home weekly.
My plan is to eventually move to tanker but I dont have my hazmat or TWIC yet.
there has been a lot good info in here Thanks to most of the people that posted in here91B20H8 Thanks this. -

Schneider is a good company to start with , certainly better than most of the other megas. It might pay off to stay after your contract is up because their O/O program (called Choice) is one of the best in the business. Otherwise stay for 2 years or so OTR, maybe find a specialty and move to a small high paying outfit, don't jump to another big company because it will wind up being basically the same and you might even end up worse off.

I started with Schneider 4 years ago in September straight out of truck driving school. I was a company driver for about 8-9 months and then went to the Choice. I leased an '09 Cascadia that had about 350k on the clock for 2 years and at the end of that 2 years, between what I had saved in my maintenance account and what I had saved in my personal savings account, I was able to buy the truck outright. I have been a Choice driver for a little over 3 years and could not be happier.
Sure, like most big companies Schneider has it's faults. However, with that said, I can also say that in many, many respects they make an honest effort to improve. The pay at the beginning was not that great, but if you look at it from the perspective that they are paying you to learn to be a truly professional driver, it takes a bit of the sting out.
I can say this much, I sincerely doubt I will ever work for anyone else; no one else can offer me what Schneider does so there's really no point in looking. Professionally and personally, I've never been happier in my life.
To everyone who reads this and is considering Schneider, I say 'saddle up'. In my opinion, based on nearly 30 years in the trucking business (25 in LTL management), you can't do much better just out of school. Best of luck to all.Rocknroller4, Cuban_P, 48Packard and 4 others Thank this. -
