Lady, compared to some of these other companies Schneider is very good about getting drivers home. Especially for an irregular route carrier. Just read the stories here of guys being held captive in a truck for months. Even if your husband ran a regular lane to a city a thousand miles away and back home there are a hundred factors that could cause him to be a day or two late. That's transportation. I agree being gone from home for even two weeks sucks. Have to pick your priorities, normal life or more money.

Ma'am, there is good paying local work to be found if you're near a major city. There's what we call the "LTL" sector. We have a section here on our site dedicated to it. Check it out.Naptown, driverdriver, Pintlehook and 3 others Thank this. -
I was just joking about the transfer to Watkins Shepard, I've heard of one driver that tried it and they told him no can do since in fact they are 2 different companies. Same driver told them fine he would quit and go to Watkins. Schneider told him they would make sure he would never be hired, which in fact I guess they can do since they have the money that's backing Watkins lol.
Find a job (like Watkins) where the loads originate from the terminal. That way they have to get you back to haul more freight.Rusty Trawler and x1Heavy Thank this. -
driverdriver, AM14, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this.

@Friday said it best. Your DBL literally has a list of loads from the planners at his disposal. Before starting to drive in 2000 I worked in the office at Charlotte OC. Then after becoming an O/O in 2002 I leased on to run local for SNI out of Charlotte and Greensboro rails. I would go in and talk to my DBL and she would pull up a list a mile long of loads and I would pick a few here and there.....

You truckers need to grow a pair and post yourself.
Be happy your man got home at all. Hell in my time it was just me and Im gone from early march until about this time of the year in october. Make a bunch of money, stack aside a mountain of savings and then enjoy the winter stress free I did.joesmoothdog Thanks this. -
You came on here a couple times in the summer complaining about the same problems with hometime. What happened from July to now? Were things good enough not to post and now he's not getting home again or what? He must be somewhat happy here if he hasnt left already. Tell him to try a different company already or a different position.
Most dedicated accounts will get him home every weekend IF he wants to go home. I've never missed a weekend home unless I requested to stay out and dispatcher overrides the trip planners everytime. His DBL should be able to do the same. Schneider works for me but it's fine if it doesn't work for hubby, just move on already. I don't think you are getting the whole story. -
