They used to force driver to comply. Just a example of the stupid things you have to put up.

Really, if you could backup your mouth with some facts and reasons, you may look less like corporate troll.

Schnieder is what we term a "mega" carrier, being one of the largest irregular route general freight carriers currently in operation.

They are huge, they are corporate, and by golly they DON'T CARE about their drivers. When one quits, there are ten more waiting in line for that seat.

So yes, they are going to place their interests (profits) over the drivers' families and hometime. Why? Because they have hundreds of drivers who tolerate that until the drivers move on. There is zero incentive for the corporate culture to change. Heck, once the OP's husband hits his anniversary raise, he becomes a liability to the company, anyway.

THAT is the truth in trucking! Grab as mich profit off a driver as possible, then burn him/her out so the driver voluntarily leaves and opens the seat for the next introductory wage paid driver. All this talk about the "importance of retention" is just that, TALK. Sounds great in the boardroom....as long as nothing is done.

For the OP (and any other new drivers or their families reading this), the key is to specialize in an area of trucking that very few will do. LTL as mentioned before, flatbed/specialized work, tanker hauling, something that requires more investment on the company's side into driver training that basic door swinging.

Dry van drivers are easy to find. That's why they get treated like crap by everyone around them, from the company to the customers. You don't see many tanker yankers or bullhaulers getting treated like that, do you? Of course not. Those drivers are hard to find, and are worth their weight in gold to their carriers (generally speaking, of course).

Alot depends on your frame of mind ....
There's absolutely no sense in wallering in our misery, making ourselves feel ever more hopeless as tho we are wearing chains

On the other hand we can accept what we cannot change and rise above the situation by focusing our next move
I always try to advise drivers to exit the back door on a positive note , if it takes working with the company for alittle while longer, while searching out better options, guess what ? .... We pull ourselves up by our boot straps and DO IT with a smile

Try Tyson Foods; their OTR jobs pay pretty good.

Hey China. Hows Vegas doing now? I moved out a couple years ago; kept my house up by Hollywood and Charleston. Its been sitting vacant for 3 years now. Not being rented out. I miss the desert, living in the East blows in the winter. Might move back. Any opportunity (preferably union) going on? Any advice?

    @Surfer Joe
Places are easy to rent out in Vegas area; www.propertyvegas.com , she can get renters in there for you and also manage it for you.
Here's some decent jobs; Reddaway might be union.
    Old Dominion - linehaul
    Reddaway - linehaul
    Estes - linehaul
    Mountain Valley Express - linehaul

I'm with you on the weather; don't miss snow & ice at all.

You sure it actually IS vacant? I think they've been having problems with transients breaking in, and then living in vacant houses in Vegas.
