Picked up the truck Monday. They didn't do a few things they were suppose to... took it to service they replaced the switches but didn't check to make sure the lights work.... only a fuse so no biggie. Satellite installed, company hasn't put me in the system yet so no load east.
Smelling exhaust in the cab. Even while shut down there is enough left that I can smell it in the bunk. Can't see any leaks anywhere. That will have to be delt with.
Need a dump valve for suspension, and a pressure gauge. Truck doesn't have a spike for the trailer. I'm assuming that won't be cheap to add..
The joys of a used truck...

Spike for trailer? Did you mean brake from trailer?

You end up getting a condo?

I missed the spike at first bad, but learned to live without. Probably won't be worth the money. Fumes are unacceptable. Hopefully, you'll find the cause soon.

So. Truck has a 2 piece exhaust manifold and it is leaking at the union, and has a missing stud.... One bad u joint. Only filled it once in Lancaster Ont. Made it to Halifax with over 1/3 tank left. Not bad for all the weather I got into and crazy wind. So far so good. Wheels have to come off for my mvi hopefully nothing bad there. Just picked up filters and 2 pails of t4 for an oil change. Mattress shopping tomorrow!
Also.forgot, crankcase vent not attached at the head? Must have had it off to do an over head and didn't put a clamp back on when it was put back together?? That and the exhaust leak should account for the fumes in the cab. My shop loves working on it, they don't see any pre-emission engines anymore so they were all impressed with my choice. They all expected me to get another new 780..

I remember you had a new 780 and I remember the 387 Pete you had that burned to the ground due to some defective wiring. I was going to suggest looking around the turbo for exhaust leaks. I dunno how you can drive it that way. I had one make me sick as a dog one time leaking up into the cab like that.

Ya that's me. The Pete was a great truck and a big kick in the sack when it burned. I loved the 780 but maintenance was expensive. This should be a good truck. Get the teething issues solved and a few comforts installed I'll be ok.

Well.... the saga gets worse. Our MVI requires Wheels off. So all rear shoes are badly cracked, missing chunks and a couple delamanating from the shoes. 5th wheel has almost an inch of play at the side pins and the manifold has one joint that is completely blown out, the other leaking badly and the turbo has a ton of end play and a seized waist gate.
The turbo is not a safty item but the truck was just thru a full safty inspection at Schneider and the plate brakes and exhaust all passed. I called them asking if they would stand behind their work and got a friendly f $#k off. Not impressed.
Not sure (if I had the chnce) I would do this deal again.....

@ElroythElroy that sucks. Sound like it's a good time to upgrade to a Borg Warner turbo and a bully dog ceramic exhaust manifold.
