Ha! Some of you act like SNI isn't out for money or doing things cheaply. Check out your fuel mileage when you run at 60, then check it at 65. There's a startling difference.
...I've come to the conclusion that these governors the megas add, their primary purpose isn't safety. It's to save money.
But...either way, I'll do things the way I feel they should be done. Working at a well-known, easily recognized place with a good reputation for beans...and then switch someplace that knows if I put up with SNI, I'm either nuts or really patient. But either way they'd know for #### sure that I am a driver.

If you (as in anyone, this isn't directed at anyone in particular) aren't happy... make a change. Do something about it. That's the great thing about this industry, with a little bit of experience (yes, experience that may suck a little at first, but 90% of us have to go through it), and if you aren't a total bonehead, you have ALL kinds of options.
stevep1977, mickimause and skyviper73 Thank this. -
Exactly! I chose the work for Snyder because it's a mega and I know it's recognized. I knew some days it might be a pain in the ### but I also knew it would pay off in the future. When you do your homework to get hired on to any company you should also consider the impact been hired by anyone company will have.
it's not like you have to plan to stay on with the exact same company the entire time. I'm sure I can speak for most, if not all, of the forum members when I say none of us are still working with the original company that hired us.mickimause Thanks this. -
Yeah, the IC trucks are spec'd the same. Only difference is that we have APU's and we're able to idle the trucks. That's a huge step up from the company trucks sadly enough.mickimause Thanks this.

As a current Schneider driver I can tell you that yes you are going to find people who are disgruntled just as the original poster of this thread is. Schneider isn't for everybody no company is but I can tell you I've been here since 2004 and you can make a very nice wage at Schneider if you put your time in. I would even be willing to bet that you think as the original poster will think that the current company you are at should pay you more as everyone rightly should but you have to earn it nothing is given to you. there are things about this company that I disagree with however they have been good to me and my family all these years that is why I decided to go on the choice board.
if anyone ever asks me I tell them the bad and the good and as far as I can say I'd rather be here than anywhere else. If those feelings change so will my job.
I feel as though if you've never worked at Schneider then you can not realistically or truthfully comment on the environment at Schneider.
you can repeat what somebody's brothers sister cousins uncles baby daddy said but that's just hearsay.
so I took your advice and asked the most trustworthiness Schneider driver that I know, myself and I say I am happy.
my advice to anybody whether you like Schneider or don't is find what you like and make the best of it work your way up and do what is best for you and your family schneider may not be it.
good luck with everyone's career choices.Last edited: Jan 22, 2015
JOHNQPUBLIC, cforestr and mickimause Thank this. -
don't forget the trucks are not governed either lolmickimause and stevep1977 Thank this. -
Tennmann, unfortunately it doesn't matter how good a company is there's always going to be someone who is unhappy with it. Some of it is human nature, we aren't ever really satisfied. Some of it is because people act asinine.
Whatever any person's case is, if you aren't happy... Don't whine and ##### about it. Do something about it! If you #### your britches, you aren't going to get clean by whining over it.
That being said... Their governors kill me. That is my biggest complaint.mickimause Thanks this. -
Well if these Megas wasn't so cheap they could spec a truck right and still allow you to run 65-70 mph... I worked for a 200 truck carrier where across the board we averaged 7.1 to 7.8 in T660's and Volvos. Of course they were spec'd with 13spds and 3.55/3.42 rears. Governed at 69 mph

It nice to be able to blow these moron 4 wheelers out of the water when they cut in front of you and slow down. Otherwise I set the cruise to 62 and relax. I really don't run that much differently then when I was a company drivermickimause Thanks this.

Yes, but you still have the ability to run at the speed you want. If you don't use it that's fine.mickimause Thanks this.
