If you lease from SFI you only get the choice of what truck you'd like, they tell you what you qualify for or what's available and the payment and maintenance they set. No negotiating there.
I was leased on with SFI and bought out my lease after a few months of having it, and brought my own truck on. The process took me about 2 weeks. It was no big deal.
They must have changed some things, cause I had an SFI lease and after 3 months turned it in. I had to pay 5500.00 but I brought my own truck on. My ICA worked with me and the whole thing took about a week and a half. Very easy process. I know a few others doing the same at the moment, but I am sure they will not allow this too long, and will stop others from doing it. SFI will not like to keep losing money on the leases. Hope this helps.
Are there any choice drivers that have been doing it longer than 5 years? What if you lease a truck and pay it off and put a million miles on it? After it's 5 years old do they make you get a new one or can you keep driving it as long as you can keep it alive?
Rickybobby I believe has been at it 5 yrs. If you payoff the truck as l9ng as it passes inspection as of now you can keep running it bit that's subject to change with the wind without notice.
There are some seriously older trucks on choice, as long add it passes inspection, they can't make you get a newer truck. I've seen an IC driving an old SNI cabover,
I've been here since choice started in 2007. Once you are on choice the truck you have can stay as long as you pass a DOT inspection. And that inspection is done either at an OC or outside vendor, yearly and quarterly.
