It's so bad that I keep my foot on the accelerator when going under freeway signs and overpasses for fear of the brakes locking at highway speeds. I don't like the idea of the brakes locking up on slick roads if I'm coasting to slow down in traffic if the system thinks I'm about to hit an imaginary object.

Under no circumstances would I put one of these systems my truck if I owned one. I think the bean counters at the insurance companies decided that they would have to pay out more money to victims of rear end collisions than they would have to pay out to crippled truck drivers. I had my truck in the dealership and they said nothing was wrong with the CMS. I kept the invoices so if anything ever happens I'm getting paid.

When I was looking into a new Freightliner (which I never ordered), I think the cost was around $3k. This was more than two years ago, so my memory may not be rock solid on that. I wasn't going to get that feature if I ordered the truck, but they were pushing it back then.

Lawsuits for what? They aren't doing anything wrong. Just like if they say they will only take a tractor that's newer than 2010, or if they won't lease on a tractor that isn't governed to their liking. They can & will get away with what they are doing cause it's totally legal.

Lawsuits aren't always about legal vs. Illegal. And I'm not saying that I know there is an angle to pursue a lawsuit.

What I am saying is you don't have to look too far to find things that these companies have done, where just about everyone thought that they were within their rights, and ended up losing a lawsuit.

One angle is that you are talking about trucks that this company sold, trucks that are 100% DOT compliant, and now telling those folks that they must upgrade their trucks or leave.

I can 100% understand a decision to not bring additional trucks in that don't meet requirements, but to shove people out the door is wrong. Many will be financially damaged by this decision.

I don't even believe in lawsuits typically, but when you crap on people like this, you just might deserve it.

It isn't that cut and dry. Companies can and do often times go above and beyond DOT compliance.

If that were the case, every company driver at SNI could bring a lawsuit.

It would be different if they were forcing IC's to be non-dot compliant. They are simply choosing who they want to contract out to and setting criteria for it. You can bring all the lawsuits you want, but like it or not, SNI can legally do it. Is it crappy? Probably, but not illegal.

The spec sheet for my SFI 16 Volvo shows it as a $2726.00 option. This is a Volvo branded Wingman system, made by Bendix.

An example I can give of option at new vs dealer installed later would be Volvo's LED headlights.

Mr. Like of YouTube fame said his were a $1200.00 option. The OEM's cost me $1930 installed at a dealer.

Ordered at factory probably 1/4 the price of a retro fit not to include down time and any and all required upgrades to go with the add on.
