If you had keep your mouth shut I would think you are smarter than you sound.
I would much rather get direction or info from someone who do it everyday than from some one who try to drive the truck from behind a computer screen.

Intermodal drivers are payed per load and per mile. Most of the ramps will run day cabs for local drivers. We also have a training academy in South El Monte, CA (this is the yard I work in). I've done local and regional intermodal and now I'm the Flex OSR in Southern CA. I help with the on-boarding at the academy for company drivers and do all of the on-boarding for the port IC's. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.
DublinVince Thanks this. -
ok thanks. Is it true I can make 55k? Because it just doesnt add upto me? The recruiter told me the job pays .26cpm (local) plus 28.50 pr load plus 4.50 performance pay. So unless I pick 6-7 loads a day I dont see how I can make 55k? And howcome its not monday thru friday like jb hunt is and other intermodal companys are?

Remember, the pay potential on Schneider Jobs and what the recruiter tells you is based on experience. Top earners (more experienced drivers) will earn 55+ per year working 5 days per week. It is possible for a less experienced experienced driver to earn 50+, but you will have a lot of 6 day weeks. Schedules are based on the current need for drivers. There are many different schedules that drivers run. I had tues and wed off as a local night driver. As a regional driver I had fri sat for some time and sun mon. Hope this helps.DublinVince Thanks this.

Well fellas and gals, the Schneider job didn't happen for various reasons. First of all there was a lot of miscommunication about the qualifications. Originally i was told that the job was hard to feel because of the Hazmat requirement. So I went and paid the fingerprinting fee and and pass the test on the first try. Then the district manager told me that since I haven't driven in a year, because of returning to finish my degree at UW-Tacoma, the hiring manager in Portland told me that i needed to take a 40 hour refresher course, which i spent almost a $1000 dollars at truck driving school and completed. When i call Scheider , Portland office and let them know that i was ready to go, they told me that i didn't have enough experience to drive for them. i have had my CDL Class A since 2005 and drove fulltime for four straight years and drove during the summer while school was out, Did what they asked me to do and still couldn't get hired ! So good luck with your endeavors with that company and most importantly "Drive Safe, Be safe !"

I didnt have issues being hired. If anything they tried to hard to hire me thats why I didnt go with them.

Hey what's up R. Rodriguez. I'm currenty in the interview process with SNI for a regional intermodal position out of South El Monte. I know what the local pay is but was wandering if the regional pay is the same? Also what's a typical week for the regional guys? Where do they run, how many loads, miles, home time etc. Thanks in advance man.
-
A typical week will usually be between 7-10 loads and 1800-2200 miles. Regional out of SEM runs as far north as Fresno and as far south as Otay Mesa and Calexico. Occasionally we'll have to run mis-ramps (container came to the wrong rail yard) up to French Camp, Red Bluff, Reno, Oregon, and Washington. We also will help the Arizona ramp very often. They'll ask for volunteers to go out for a week or so. Some drivers will stay out for a month or two if the freight is slammed. Regional is five days on two days off. Days off are either fri and sat, sat and sun, or sun and mon. If you have any other questions let me know.
