Schneider Intermodal/regional....Charlotte, NC

I worked for them out of Carlisle PA terminal, but did go to the Flynn yard on a regular basis. Do you run for them?

 

As a van driver,not intermodal, was just there a few nights ago

 

Runningman, Thanks for posting your experiences on this new gig and your previous endeavors including Cheeseman, Malone, Abilene and this thread. Your experiences should be mandatory reading for any prospective driver and for drivers having a difficult time making a living in the industry. Your military training combined with "common sense", discipline and a positive attitude has served you well. One can gain a wealth of information by reading your postings and I got a good indication of what the criteria for success in this difficult industry is from reading your postings over the years.

If I was a driver struggling to make it in this industry, I would compare and contrast what I was doing to what you stated in your postings and change my habits to emulate what you are/have been doing.

 

As an ex-SNI driver of 4 1/2 years, having stayed out an average of 24 days at a time, based out of Charlotte, let me wish you good luck on that one.

 

Ha! Well I guess I have to give em a shot. Left Charlotte Friday and spent 5 hours and 108 miles looking for a trailer, picked up in Statesville and ran up to Detroit. Delivered Saturday afternoon. Then went to schneider terminal just south of Detroit, swapped empty for a loaded going to Coventry Ga. Just delivered that at 8pm Sunday. Running empty up to Browns Summit NC to pickup Monday going to Tobyhanna PA for Tuesday. Easy runs. 1500 miles and change done for three days. Not too bad.

Just gotta figure out a way to get power to my cb. Power jacks on dash are dead. And KEEP power to my coleman cooler. Engines stops idling at four minutes or so and the truck shuts off the two 12v jacks within an hour or so in order to conserve enough to be able to start engine.

No tv, laptop, or 12v oven I guess. Probably shouldnt idle anyway. Something in the tranny shudders every now and again when idling. Sounds like unlubricated metal on metal.

I hope it works out for you. All I know is the last two-plus years I was there, my average week ended up being 2400, with a grand total of one week over 3000, and that was 3003. Never had an issue with my trucks, just with mileage. Finally had to leave, and glad I did. Good luck to you!

 

Its a glider. 2011 body on an older frame and engine. Someone trashed the body since they got it, thats for sure. Just over 296k miles right now.
