    Had a load scaled out at 85000# target load about 50k in wagon, delv 5 miles from DC. Truck team like a mule.

    Yeah, the autos are great...until it gets stuck in gear. And that's something that will eventually happen. Nothing more than a way to accommodate the newbs. Other companies have tried it, years later went back to the manuals because there was no cost benefit.

    Usx had the Eaton auto shifts..those were garbage...I know from experience. ...

    Power steering did ruin trucking - it allowed me and my chicken arms into the industry.

    Exactly the opposite, I love technology. Was just stating a fact that the autos do occasionally get stuck in gear. Sometimes they'll reset themselves after several minutes and when they don't you've gotta pull a fuse for it to reset. If neither of those work you'll get towed with a perfectly good transmission and bad technology. The south has nothing to do with it.

    I been driving a Eaton ultrashift for 5 years. never had to pull fuse or get towed. sometimes I have to disconnect the cable from battery, to reset it. maybe twice a year?
