Could be another reason why SNI increased the down payment.

Nobody said you have to book cheap freight. But you're not gonna clear 2400 a week with a 1100 a week payment with rates these low... I was doing that when rates were up back in 12 and 13.. Times have changed. Like I said it can be done but it's not being done on a weekly basis.. I know guys with regular monthly truck payments that's not making that on a weekly basis... I'm just responding to a post I saw on here from a guy that's all.. I just want to clarify for the newbies..

Fuel prices are down that helps a lot. If you were averaging the same when fuel prices was up. Then you gave yourself a raise. lol

That's true.. But the gross would still decrease being the rates drastically deceased... In the few months i was gone I've seen loads drop a couple hundred dollars or more...idk maybe it's me but clearing 2400 weekly after these payments I would need to see proof lol.. I'm thinking 1700 u did well for yourself.. That would be 2700 without a payment.. But 2400 that would be 3400 with no payment... That's almost reefer money lol

If I was doing that bad I would leave. Lots of loads I do are contract and rates have't changed besides FSC.
Have to ask.. what lanes are you running and what's your average length of haul?

There's not much you can tell me about this program or the lanes. I didn't say what I made because we all have different wants and needs.. But unless you can prove to me that you can clear 2400 a week with these rates and with your weekly overhead I don't believe it.. Yea I've made that before FYI but my overheard is lower than yours im sure.. And I like being home with kids so I'm not gonna make that weekly

Someone going home every week vs staying out for weeks at a time will make a huge difference.
I'll be the first to admit if I went home every week I'd be burned lol.

Someone can clear 2400 a week if they wanted to.
    I'll use one example...
There's still always loads over $2 a mile to the Northeast and those .90 loads leaving will always be there.

    Take $1.45 all miles, do 3000 miles that's $4350
    - Fuel 7.5 MPG X $1.60 = $640
    - $1100 in fixed costs

    = $2,610 to you after costs. That's a lot more than $1700
These are estimates btw just to give a general idea.

I don't mind giving that example because it sucks and better can be done.
I'm sure you already know all this though.
Everybody has different wants and needs.
My problem hasn't been rates, it's been there's a lot less loads.. A LOT less compared to last Winter/Spring and Summer. Sooo I'm having to do longer loads at a lower rate but still do okay. A long load for me is 350 miles though haha.

1.50 per mile x 2500 miles in a week is $3750.00. The truck is 868.00 per week ( includes repair fund) so now you have 2882.00. Insurance/plates etc is around 250.00 per week so now you have 2632.00 left. Fuel lets say you average 7.00 mpg that is 357 gallons per week current fuel is around 1.85 per gallon so 660.45 that brings you to 1971.55 taxes figure 20% 394.51 so for the week you take home 1577.04 AND you didnt work to hard, AND are paying off a truck not renting a truck. Now if you did 3100 miles a week you would take 4650.00 minus 868.00 and 250 is 3532 fuel is now 819.28 leaves you with 2712.71 take out taxes 542.54 take home 2169.xx I think you get the picture....

    You gave a good example.
Someone could also do 2-3 loads a day and run at a higher rate than $1.50 in some markets also.

The problem here is getting home often if you don't live in a great area.
If you Dave wanted to go home (CO) every week or even every other week man you'd take a beating.
I take a semi beating when I go home/leave the house, not on CO levels but still.
