Salty...I dont know much about covenant, but stay FAR away from Swift and Werner. WAY too much bad stuff goes on with those guys! I know a little about Schneider after three weeks with them. So far, everything that I have been told has been true. Is it a perfect company? Nope, but when you find that perfect company, please let me know...SNI is for real.
Schneider looks good...

I submit my pre qual paperwork on Tuesday, and start my 4 week training on the 16th. Pulled my Ca DMV h-6, ( 10 yr ) report, Last 7 years, No tickets, no citations, no Failure to appears, and no accidents. I have never been arrested, no drug violations, and have a clean back ground. I know Werner and Swift will be all over me, I just hope that my pre qual paperwork for Schneider will get the same attention.

if not, something is wrong. You are practically in with that record as long as the drug test and physical are good.

No issues there either....... 46 year old, been in contruction, a totally fit as for as i'm aware. Does the fact that I want the long runs help as well??? seems like everyone ####### about not enough home time........

OTR or regional or dedicated really doesn't make much of a difference, I dont think. There is more than enough freight to go around for all of them. Tennman can answer your questions better than me as he has been around a LOT longer than me. I would say you are golden, though.

Also, since your are new to them, how are their trainers and trucks???? I know I will be with one for at least my first 6 weeks.
Any info on starting pay for a " Newbie" would help as well. From all I've read, this seems to be the company i will look into -
Trucks...from what I have seen, they are mostly Freightliners 08-11. Dont look to get anything close to an 11 to start off with. I do know that they are getting a LOT of newer trucks so the fleet will be newer. They aren't loaded, but they aren't stripped down POS either.
As for trainers, I have no clue about them. I came over from another company, so all i had to do was 4 days orientation and then hit the road. Also, starting pay I dont know about for someone just coming out of school. I do know that the pay is very competitive for a complete newbie just out of school. You will get the miles, though.rssaltydog Thanks this. -
Salty, as far as being qualified for schneider it sounds like you would be but they also want your work history to be good. As far as trucks they are mostly freightliners with the exception of teams they run different types from Volvo to Pete's and even Kenworth's. For the pay you'll need to talk with a recruiter. If i was you i'd go to schneider jobs and see what they are hiring for in your area and i'd apply now then on tuesday you may get a call or if not call them wednesday. When going out with a trainer once schneider decides to bring you on board they send you for a dot physical and drug screen before you leave home. I just did mine this past week the physical, urine and Hair follicle. once you PASS they then bring you to an OC to do the orientation as well as some training. Once you are done with the training at the OC and PASS everything they then put you with a Training Engineer (TE) for 10-14 days. Once you finish with the TE you go back to an OC ( operating center ) where you will be tested again (sqt) skills qualification test which include all that you've learned the Schneider way. once you PASS sqt you are then assigned a DBL ( driver business leader ) and a truck. Then you are ready to be a solo driver and start running mileage pay or cpm. as far as what type of driver you'll be as in Dedicated, system, regional, local, tanker, intermodal or whatever will depend on what they are hiring for in your area and which you choose. At Schneider you do not stay out 6-8 weeks unkess you choose too. usually 2 weeks and then home for 2 days. but freight dictates it more than anything. Schneider is a good company or i wouldn't of stayed as long as i have. I am now buying a truck and staying with schneider as an O/O. There are lots of companies but Schneider has been good to me and my family so i plan on staying. Once you come to schneider you will see but i do warn you there is a learning period and schneider is pretty serious about safety. Good Luck and if you have more questions just ask and i'll try and answer then as best as possible.

Whats the b/p cutoff and do they do a bmi?my b/p is somewhat high at times around 139 but weight is good I'm 6ft and 210 and neck is about 15 in. I'm currently at swift doing otr and I've been looking at schneiders dedicated routes near my home or maybe doing a regional .

is that 139 the top number? That number (top), according to DOT can not be more than 140. Mine was a little higher than normal when they did mine at the OC and they called me from medical a day or so later and just talked to me about what to do to keep it down, etc.
