sni is buying up a lot of new auto shifts. the testing is just about done and they are determined to go all auto. not sure about bulk division, but van definately going auto. Walmart dedicated accounts have been 90%auto for 2 years now. all new trucks for those accounts are auto. sni training will put you through auto training as well as manual training. at least up until now. they used to be all auto during training course, but problems with the trucks and auto transmissions forced them to train on manuals again.

The pay increases are for over the road only. Im going to be running a dedicated and that won't be going up with the new pay raises coming soon.

hey folks- i am a newbie headin to carlisle, pa for schneider training in Nov. - i just wanted to thank all of you who post about them cause it has helped me determine which trainer to go with. One of my questions though I'm wondering if they are kinds dangling a carrot with this dedicated position that is close to my home in butler, pa just to get me on board-also what else can I expect from the traing in carlisle,pa?

Jay,
Keep in mind that even though you have accepted the position, you still are not an employee of the company yet. Im assuming you don't have a CDL. What that means is that until you get your employee number, that position is still open. They know you are being hired for it, but I think technically someone can still come and grab it if they see the open position. Might want to double check with your recruiter on that.
As far as other info....there is another thread on here that I've been replying to alot about Schneider training. I think its titled Schneider training in Green Bay or something like that. Check it out, should answer lots of your questions -
1. Opt out of Per Diem. It's shameful that SNI automatically enrolls you instead of requiring you to sign up. Should be the other way around.
2. SNI should pay you for the miles you drive. The qualcomm is able to give you directions and miles for the route you are expected to take, but SNI does not pay for those miles. Sad to say, the entire industry lacks integrity here. Never been in a union but...
3. Getting your truck fixed at the xpress bay should not take 4 hrs. I won't even talk about nonexpress maintenance.
4. An OSR is your best friend. Every OSR I've run into has been competent and helpful. SNI is doing something very right in this area. -
What is a OSR?
-
The SNI defintion: OSR = Operations Support Representative. A trainer located at the Operating Centers to assist drivers with any driving related skill.
Schneider seems to go out of its way to create confusing acronyms... An OSR is a former driver who knows everything from how to arrange a border crossing, to how to stay legal with the DOT, to how to fix any problem. I am convinced that they all know everything and whenever I have a question or a problem, I talk to an OSR. And what's even more amazing is that every OSR I've run into has a good attitude. They truly want to help you and go out of their way. -
