Yea I saw schneider had a similar schedule. I will probably look into them if things dont workout with May. I decided with them because of their ride along policy. I think there going to let me take someone as soon as I get assigned a truck. Im taking the wife whenever she want to go. Im planning to do 48 states, wanna run as much as I can and get all the experience that comes with it. So i know I wont get alot of hometime.
-
Oh and I gotta wait a couple of months before I can apply with them (cant get into specifics)
-
Not only that, May's trucks are much nicer for new guys then Schneider provides. Not to mention they won't allow you to put in an inverter.
-
True. Definetly want a cooler a tv and my xbox if ima be out there for weeks..
-
im in same position im trying to decide scneider or may. schneider does have all the possibilities out there. like regional intermodal and such but they dont allow inverters and now have a no idle ambient sensor which basically shuts truck off after 4 minutes. yikes!!!! thats scary. but may has good equipment. im not tripping over hometime tooo....much but i need to get some miles under my belt. i got my cdl friday but still have 1 week of scool left. decisions decisions lol

At MAY in my truck. I have a 26in flat screen. A 4.0 MagicChef Fridge/freezer. Laptop. Playstation. Microwave. all on the 2000 watt inverter they let us have. You gotta ask yourself a question. Do you want to be in old equipment and just sit in your truck and play with your thumbs and eat out everynight. Or do you want to live cheap on the road. Drive nice equipment. And have entertainment. Theres no way i would be on the road and not being able to have all this stuff. I have tons of other stuff like a propane gas stove charcoal grill and stuff but i stay on the road 4 weeks plus MY CHOICE so its like a studio apartment on wheels. Im all about comfort.
whitelinequeen, Rogerthat and krazyhorsechick Thank this. -
oh and a 4 inch foam mattress topper i bought from walmart really nice to sleep on

Yep. Thats why I decided with May. Ima head out to Gary thursday to practice on a truck up there before orientation/test on the 30th. I told recruiting that I havent touched a truck since I got my cdl and they offered to help me get comfortable with a truck before orientation. I would have never thought a company would do that.
Joker85 Thanks this. -
Wow it sounds like you living comfortable out there. Like I said home home time isn't too big an issue. But don't wanna be just a memory neither... haha. Need to put miles in and make some money hang get used to being on road again. Yeah the lady at may said I could come out and practice as well. That's cool. Schneider don't to that. I think may does sound better. Plus I'm sure me being 10 mins. AwY from Gary yard and near Chicago I'll at least get home often. Just don't wanna make wrong choice and regret it later. May does pay better and have better equipment. Joker, do you get down to Texas ofyen ? I got some family down there and it would be nice to get thru there once in awhile. Oh...and how does the orientation training go?
