Well I went to MAY today, man its a good thing I did. I needed practice backing up big time, I did pretty good on the street but I needed that refresher, Danny offered more practice monday, so im going for sure. Im just trying to be ready and its not like I got anything to do.

Im in ny rochester training. And I got a question. If I get an inverter in my truck. Will that drain my battery? Do I have to idle a bit to get it charged up? I only ask cause my trainer doent have one in his truck.

Depending on how good your batteries are, a good days worth of driving (8 hours or more) should provide a healthy charge for a good amount of use. If you get a Pete that you have to have the key in the accessory position in order to run the bunk heater (I don't know if they have changed them or not, ask Joker), then you will possibly have to idle a bit to recharge so you won't freeze due to your bunk heater not working.

yeah, if you're running stuff on the inverter for a while before you knock out for the night you'll want to idle for a bit if you plan on using the bunk heater. if not, that thing will shut off during the night, and you'll wake up freezing your ### off. when i got rid of my fridge a few weeks ago it was no problem, but now i have the coleman plug in cooler, and my laptop that im always using so if I plan on running the heater I idle for a little bit before turning in for the night (the truck turns the heater off when it gets under 12v anyway but your inverter will still stay on, and that beeping gets REALLY annoying). I really dont use the bunk heater much myself anyway, the cold doesnt bother me as much as the heat, i can dress for the cold and I have thick blankets, i just personally dont like leaving the truck in accessory unless i really have to.

Just curious, Blue, why'd you get rid of your fridge? As for key/bunk heater...next time you wind up at a Pete dealership, request they do the bunk heater wire mod. Makes it so you don't have to use your key.
