I would go with a chemical tanker co over food grade as the money is going to be better in the long run. Try all the companies ethos suggested. Even if a companys ads say they want experience drivers are a hot commodity right now so you never know if they may take a student. As far as Schnieder vs Prime, I don't know mush about Prime but I've talked to several Schneider tanker drivers at different places when p/u and delivering loads. They seem to have received pretty good training. I know the pay isn't as much as you'll make later on at another company but you are just starting out and I was told they will take a student. I've been doing chemical tanker for 7 years now and there is no way I'd want to run anything else. Good luck to you.

I'll also add that I'll probably never pull anything else but a chemical tanker. It would take an amazing offer to get me to switch.

Any time someone asks me to vote on a company, and give a whole list or just two.....if Prime is on the list, I vote against them. No other reason than I just hate them. Hate their trucks. Hate their business practice. Hate everything about them.

I have gone with 2 large companies in my entire career: J.B. Hunt, and Knight....and they both screwed me so bad you wouldn't even imagine. But if someone was to hold a gun to my head while standing in front of three trucks (Prime, Knight, and J.B.) and said "Pick one, and drive it for a year, or die now", I would definitely jump in one of the trucks that does not say Prime on the door.

    Hope that helps.:yes2557:

Yeah, but you are a generally negative person. I'm betting you brought some of that on yourself so......

No.....I am a realist. "Sugar coating" is not my best suit. And I speak my mind, and lay MY thoughts out on the table. People are welcome to heed my advice, or ignore it, just like anyone else on here so.....

Wow, speaking your mind, hope you have some more unique talents than that.

LOL! I'm not gonna argue with you. I can tell that's what you're fishing for, and it will only get the thread closed and/or both of us in trouble. So have a good day.

Bit late to the party, but if you are firm on those 2, I'd go with Schneider. Pay is a bit lower than other chemical tank companies, but after a year or so, you'll have a leg up at those other companies than a guy with similar length of driving experience with a dry van or food grade company.

I'd guess that if you live close to the terminal you'll also find yourself at home a lot more frequently than with Prime.
