Schneider orientations are usually only 3 days for exprienced drivers. I do not know if they have regular orientations anymore because they no longer do the CDL training for inexperienced drivers.

Hmm, interesting I remember when I was 12 my dad retired from the military and went away to Schneider but came back early and told us that he quit. I wonder if it was possible that he was just rejected? He had so much pride that he never would say that he was fired. He was a bad learner at certain things so perhaps that is what happened.

At Edwardsville, Il orientation starts Sunday where they have you do the pre-hire physical test then start to read their lessons which are on the computer. Monday is the road test, Tuesday is the simulator, Wednesday is learning the way they do their qual-comm messaging and responding to load assignments. Thursday everything is finished up and you are assigned your driver number, comdata card and get your truck. Thursday is done by around noon. You get your money for the orientation the following pay day.

I got no dog in this fight  but Schneider experience I got,was pretty much bending over backwards for drivers.
There was 2 folks that were moved back to go through orientation again, due to poor backing among other things.Another was removed for lying about a felony.I got the picture they really wanted all the drivers they could get.
At least your cousin didnt end up like one of my friends. He went to orientation with (knight) Drove for 2 weeks fudging log books, couldnt get home when he wanted, and quit.He liked his trainer, but missed his wife.
(knight)Took all the money off his card, and never paid him a dime. :smt096

Most of Schneiders orientation for the expierienced drivers involves them explaining how to use the Qualcomm and all of their "MACROS" that are needed to be completed with each part of the job. They show you some training and safety videos and of course there is a road test. Someone else mentioned the very first day (Sunday) you do your physical test so they know you are physically able to do the job.. Then you do some online testing, written tests trip planing and safety stuff. Thursday they give you your "safety training" certificate, hand you your comdata card, goodie box, pumpkin pad and your first load....

My first job was at Pumkin and I went through their school. I and a couple other Vets had issues there because after we signed the loan documents and agreements to stay 6 to 12 months depending on the deal you made they tried to slide in with these GI Bill certification forms. I wouldn't sign and they almost sent me home over it and got pissed. I wasn't going to get any money out of it and I had agreed to work for a year for them aqt very low pay for the schooling. One of us did sign and Pumkin collected his GI Bill for like six months, was more than the $2500 the school cost! Was in 2002.

The school in Green Bay that I went to for two weeks was very good and one of the best. Went home for a weekend then to Indy for two weeks of more school. Then out with trainers who watched me drive for 30 days, NO TEAMING. The trainer was salary and I switched weekly at Indy terminal because they rotated. Paid 100 per week for the driving only. After 70 days I finally got my own truck (cabover).

I was so broke and desperate that 0.22 cpm for the next three months seemed like a fortune! Ate peanut butter sandwiches and drank water for 3 weeks on the road until I got my first check. Owed every dime to bill collectors but kept $100 for the road. At the 90 mark they bumped me up to 27 cpm. On the 366th day I turned th keys in and they offered me 39 CPM with 4 cent perdiem and a new condo freight to stay. SAID NO WAY!

Moral of the story if you can pay to train yourself then do so because if you take $2500 from any trucking company your going to pay em $10,000 back!
