well, to be honest, thats all relative. I was initially hired in as NE regional. I spent as much time running Va, NC and SC as any where else. fair amount of midwest too.

Its a running joke of sorts. any of these regional positions really mean east of I 35. based out of Columbus Ohio, I have been to northeastern Iowa, close to Wi Mn border, as far south and west to West Memphis , Birmingham Al over to Savanna Ga. Everything North and east of that basic line.

Fact is , where there is frieght a customer needs picked up or delivered too , you will be dispatched for. Just the way it is. With that though, you will get to see some really cool things.

Thanks Mickey. I don't mind OTR. I've done it for 3 months before. I was just reading about the 6/3 plan and other stuff, wondering how that gets set up. The company I worked for before was IC, so we went from Va. and in between to what I call the midwest, Colorado, Ok. N.M. & Tx. Picking up Christmas trees in the Blue Ridge mountains scared the sheet out of me. To me, anything east of the big muddy ain't west. So, how does it go after/during orientation? They just tell you when and where you will be driving, or are there options?

as nice as the regualr home time is on 6/3 , work it out on a calender before you do it so you can see how the running days are. it works with 3 drivers in two trucks. 1 guy is always home. off load stuff every time. gets to be a chore.

main thing though is there are three straight weeks where you only have 4 days worked in a payweek. it goes like this , 1st week 6 days on a check, then 5 days, then 4 , then 4 then 4 , then 5 then 6 then 5 then 4 then 4 then 4 and so on. being paid weekly this makes for short checks those three weeks. Now if money isnt as great a concern as it might be for some then this is a great set up. They HAVE to get you back home in order for the next driver to go out.

to answer your last question, that really depends on the board you ill run off of. Plus the first up to 90 days will be straight solo with your training dbl til you do your check ride. At that point you are released to your regular dbl. My advice is to try to do a meet and greet. name to face sort of thing.

No dude. I don't want 6/3. It was just a plan or post I have read. I am just, or gonna be, a regular company driver. I think I've read on a post, 21 out 2 at home, or something to that effect. I was just asking if they, at orientation have chooseable options, or are new drivers already locked into something that we're not sure of. Thanks for letting me take your time with goofy questions.

No prob at all. We are here to help each other out. Cant really answer your question on that then. One of the newer guys that just went through will have to chime in. Things have changed up in the 2 1/2 years since I went through.

For us out West, they offered Regional, Western 11, and 48 OTR. A couple guys were hired with dedicated accounts.

I'm on western 11 but can and have gone all 48 anytime I want by sending a simple request to my dbl. Its been a while since I've been any further east then Denver Colorado though. Mainly stick to the west coast as I've been getting 2900-3500 miles per week. I usually stay out 4-5 weeks at a time. Its been at least half a year since I've seen less then 2500 miles in a week (other then home time weeks), as far as I can remember.

Hey brother it's been a while, hope your well.

How often do you get home on that so called regional? I'm considering it. It says 300-400 average length of haul, is that accurate? Sounds like a lot of time loading and unloading unless they have a lot of dnh.
