I don't believe that is true.. If u have at least a year experience driving and bring in your own truck, you can do the choice program.

Just got off the phone with someone from SFI that answered some questions about financing a truck through them -

Minimum of 6 months experience with Schneider or 1 year with another carrier
Lease terms range from 1 year to 5 years depending on the cost of the truck
3% penalty for paying off the truck before halfway through your lease term

Hopefully I have it in me to stick with them for another 3 months as a company driver until I have my 6... at the moment I'm stuck up in the Northeast with no load assignment, been waiting since last night.

Dip.. I jus took the dive myself and am ready to get into my truck on June 10 with SNI. On the choice program out of cali.
Like you, I used to listen to people much and also do ill advised numbers in my head but I did take 4 months to choose the right truck for me.

Used 2009 KW T660 Cat 475 with 13 spd tranny... Plan on removing the cgi and dpfe system once I get my hands on it..
has 350k miles roughly.. 65k sni price.. if I do 2 year lease its 74,500 after the buy out price if I do the 1 year lease it would be about 3k less but the buy out price would be like 45k instead of 24k.. so thats how I saw it.

I did the numbers and its 501 for the lease including major catastrophic insure.. another 375 for Maintenance..(who cares im glad they're saving it for me cuzz Id probably end up spending it) and 79 dollars a week for my Bobtail, workmans comp and e x pass etc.. Total from numbers I did comes to about 890.. but remember 375 of that is going into my little savings box so im realy only pay about 579 for lease and all insurances a week for a nice truck that I love.

I know people say this truck wastes fuel but I have driven for my present company both freightshakers with detroits and the Pete 387 with cat on same routes same mph speed etc.. the amount of extra fuel I use is to me not worth the discomfort of a truck that shakes like crazy.. loud as hell and breaks down like a sobbing princess every other week.
The pete with cat has been a hard running sonofabish and I fell in love with it so I got what I wanted engine wise.. Body wise I like the t660 because its more aerodynamic than the pete 387.

Anyways man dont contemplate it too much SNI is a good company cuzz I did work for them as company driver before too always treat you right and if you get treated wrong you just move up the ladder and you will get justice guaranteed. No good ole boy policy there. They're not the best but amongst the choices of big companies with tons of freight they ARE the best. IMO

Diesel someone is giving you misinformation. You only need 3 months experience.. alot of these recruiters you talk to arent recruiters just sidekicks and they dont have their #### straight.. Call SNI and
talk to Andrea Proschke. Shes the head recruiter for SNI out of west coast but shes a former DA man shes got her stuff straight.. tell her you want to come aboard and were told that you need 3 months exp whilst others are telling you more.. she will set them straight. Good luck keep us updated.

You might want to rethink that. I have read its not that simple. Its been discussed on the garage side. It would be a lot easier , to find a older model less headaches. just my .02

im not going to do it.. even tho Im a certified mech.. im going to have a diesel mech do it and have him reflash the ecm. I live in cali so that option of getting an older engine doesn't work :(

    rickybobby Thanks this.

It's all just personal preference I guess? I'm doing just fine with $140,000 dollar truck 10spd. Making money and happy doing it just the same!

Hang in there man! it will be worth it. I m in northern NY but already picked my loads for the week. All under 27,000 LB going to Joliet IL, then up to West Branch IA, then Brookhaven MS and the believe or not just booked a load from Mobile AL to Red Bluff CA. As IC you can sit if you want (if you can afford it) or keep it going! Good luck!

I'm sorry but stupid question time,,how can you plan your runs like that with so many variables? How do you know how long it will take to load and unload at each? That right there could be a half hour to 4 hours at each stop :(
