So let me understand you live in Cali looking to buy a tractor then pay some one to remove the emissions equipment. You do realize Cali has the strictest emissions regulation in north add north america and that is just asking for trouble. That's like me going out on my 2010 chevy avalanche and gut the convertors. That isn't a smart move. What will happen when you get a emissions check? You also realize that if your truck doesn't have the DPF FILTER you have to buy a retro kit. That's why SNI has stopped buying the glider trucks.

No, that's a good question! In this case everyone of those loads are drop and hook on pick up and delivery. I am also familiar with these customers and 98% of time can be in and out pretty quick. In addition I give myself flexibility by picking these loads with an open window pick up and delivery time (drop & hooks usually are open, not always but usually). And last but not least i figure extra time in my planning for finding empties, traffic etc.. Run on!

Yep, your right! drop and hooks! Only thing is we don't know the customer until after we pick the loads. But we can tell like you did by the towns and load weight, destination etc.. Takes awhile but learning these places little by little.

Will add here that knowing my hours how many hours I can run per day is obviously important. Just for fun...going to post my progress as I go through these runs in my thread here -> http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...hneider/159117-running-with-schneider-11.html

Thank you to everyone for some good information and especially atruckr for the settlement to look at.
My wife and I are planning to go with Schneider but it's not the percentage plan. They said that is only for solo drivers, not teams, so we'll be on the mileage plan. Anyhow, we are approved to buy a truck through Lone Mountain. I'll be looking at one of those 2009 Prostars at about $1,450 a month. From everything I've heard we should do pretty good.

I'm really interested in doing the lease/op program. But I want to run the dedicated cedar falls target account as I only live 50 miles away from the dc. I use to run the account as a company guy and loved it.

I just need the hard fact numbers to convince my Gf to let me make the jump. Weekly payments( I want a evolution or the new 680) insurance, etc etc. I'd have to start in the mileage program as I have no experience as a o/o but I do have 3 years as a company driver. I've driven for crst, Schneider, and currently Sharkey. Any advice or actual factual number would be great.

I just got a quote on a 2014 Cascadia......$896/week .....Yes....I did say "week"....too rich for me! Truck price was $147K.....the 680 is more!
Thats about $3800 a MONTH....just for the truck......don't know how some people do it !

That is the cost per week but the pay is more than the company driver. The pay is quoted on the o/o page for mileage driver as .92 a mile plus the fuel surcharge which is .39 a mile right now(shorter hauls pay more). If you go percentage then you pick your loads and it pays 65% plus the surcharge.
