I learned the other day that the Army is having a hard time finding recruits because of America’s obesity problem. That means that for the first time in history young Americans are taking in more calories than they are expending. You can’t convince me about the horrors of a young Americans life when apparently young Americans have the ability to eat buckets of KFC and yet not have to do enough exertion to burn all that calories off. Stop by YouTube and take a look at videos from 30 years ago and see for yourself how skinny Americans were back then.
Who told you life was easy back then? Who sold that stupidity to you? Did you think that you’re the first generation to worry about how you’re going to make a living?
Let me tell you something kid, I immigrated to this country in 1975 from a war torn third world country. You can’t imagine the absolute poverty from which I came from. Your life in this country right now is so easy that it really boggles my mind how anyone not succeed. Whenever I hear native born kids like you complain about how bad you have it today I just want to vomit. You lack perspective. Life hit you in the face and now you’re blaming the previous generation for the fact that you have a hard life. We didn’t take anything from you and we didn’t ruin anything. This country is the greatest it has ever been and it is the effing greatest in the world. I speak three languages and travel overseas quite often and I take great pride in showing my American passport to immigration agents.
I re-read through all your post and you’ve done nothing but blame others. You played the victim. Not once did you acknowledge responsibility. I got some bad news for you, right now there are Americans your age who are doing well and are on their way to success. They did it through sacrifice and hard work and even swallowing their pride to bow down to their corporate masters. They are doing what it takes to put a roof over their heads and food on the table. Just like what the previous generation did. That’s what grown ups do.
In a few years I’m going to retire from this job and a younger driver will take over my spot and he will undoubtedly make more than what I made. I will then have to resort to living on my savings and social security and hopefully I wont starve. That’s the circle of life. The quick witted and hardest worker wins. It’s been like that since the beginning of time.

I’ve said too much. I wish you the best of luck.

I didn't read the whole thread so forgive me please.
But I agree with the above poster. I too am an immigrant who came to a country alone when I was 20. I have been here 33 years, worked my butt off to get where I am. My sons are 19 and 18 and are in a hard situation ; they actually work hard, are in college, are in National Guard and ROTC. Their peers are all driving new cars that mummy and daddy paid for ; my 19 year old drives a banger that he bought himself. They realize that by hard work you can get by and can get ahead. My 19 year old has thanked me for raising them to be independent and mature. This is a brilliant country if one appreciates it.
