Just graduated and waiting to go out on road for more training, Class was very intense and long days, but I did very well.

Too busy running running running, tired as sin, but getting rest at home now, waiting for next phase of training.

    Best wishes to all

I too was a Schneider reject. I forgot about a Disorderly Conduct and they thought I was willfully concealing it from them. I also have two DWI's from 89' & 91'. They were ok with those. I then applied to Maverick who said they would not sponsor me with the two DWI's but to call them when I had the CDL, which I promptly did. They then had me running to get documents and STILL rejected me. As far as I'm concerned, they stink. If they don't want to see any more than one DWI, they need to state that. Good luck but I doubt that being rejected by Schneider had anything to do with my rejection but since I don't know your particular circumstance, it's hard to say what your deal is.

    Good luck!

Schneider was an eye opening first misstep for us as well. The wife and I went to Schneider training school in Charlotte for one day and quit. Most everything the recruiter told us turned out to be a lie.

They put us in the most God awful roach motel you ever saw. They jammed 45 people into a bus and classroom at 6:00am. Before we got to class we sat in the cafeteria and listened to other students trying to cram homework before the day started. Every one of the students said class runs until 8pm or 9pm and its a huge struggle to keep up on little sleep.

The straw that broke the camel's back was a prephysical that pretty much weeds out the women. The recruiter told us they really want older, married couple teams and the teams were gurarranteed 99% no touch loads. In the 1%, the husband would be able to handle anything. When we got to school, they put everyone through a series of tests requiring you to lift and carry 60lbs over a period of time and distance. There were no pause or rest periods and when my wife's breathing and blood pressure started to go up, they canned her.

Well for Pete's sake, what do you expect for a housewife at 53? She passed her DOT physical with flying colors and her doctor says she is in perfect shape for her age. In any case, we finish trucking school with someone else next week and we are looking forward to driving for a good company. If you consider hiring on with the Orange guys, be very cautious in regard to what they tell you. It may not turn out to be the truth.

    Mom & Dad,

I dont work for Schneider, but I have talked with them and know people personally, that have gone through their program. Yes, I agree they do have high standards, and in all honesty that protects them and you in many ways. That test is designed to make sure you can handle the rigors of everyday life on the road. It sounds like maybe someone painted a rosy picture of life on the road with that company? Let me tell you as a rookie, there is no perfect company out there.....but Schneider really has their act together from what I can see, compared to other companies out there.........but you will see that, when you start interviewing and show up for orientation, and they show you the his and her's concrete floor to ceiling bunk houses. I wish you both lots of luck, but don't get discouraged when you dont see that polished, organized image represented by the companies website, when you show up for your first day on the job. Im glad to hear you did not give up on your plan, and hope you find that right fit in a company for you and your wife. Let us know where you go...and what your feeling is regarding that company. Jon

from my experience I would say only 5-10% make it past that first year. =this is a tough job!!!

You need to do everything to your advantage to last. GPS, computer, dedicated accounts.

In this industry driver failure is the norm and any turn could be your last = the drivers that get arrogant/####y will eventually screw up and fall out.

I had an anxiety disorder that was under control and they asked me if I had ever been "suicidal." I told them I had been about four years ago but I was not committed for it. They then asked if I had been hospitalized recently, I told them I had been in the hospital for anxiety and was cleared and the problem was under control. They then said that since I had been hospitalized for being suicidal, I was not eligible until 6 months from my discharge date....I was like WTF? I was NOT in the hospital for being suicidal, they said "thats not what you told us." I asked them to check the conversation since it was recorded, they said no, I said bye and I went to CRST. I Don't think Schneider is bad, I just think they need a medical professional doing their medical questionaire. Although I was going for their Tanker division which is a little more stringent and pays alot better than their cheap freight division.
