I am planning on getting my cdl with every endorsement possible. I have read that all over the net the more endorsements the more choices you have. Do Tankers have to run out of a certain area? Do you know if they run out of Los Angeles/Fontana/Ventura areas?

Tankers are everywhere, but for the most part require more experience.

Gunner if you are unemployment look into a WIA program for free Cdl training. That way you won't be stuck at your training company for a year.

    Gunner710 Thanks this.

I am working with CA EDD to keep my unemployment while I go through schooling that the GI Bill pays for and also pays BAH. I plan on building back up my savings just in case I do not get paid what I am hoping the first few months. I am hoping to make around $500 a week. I read that it is very possible, but you never know.

Ok here is an update. I talked to EDD they are waiting until I apply to CDL school to let me know if I will still get unemployment while I train. I am want to get it done as quick and painlessly as possible so one on one is the best way for me.

I have narrowed down my choices to Prime, Schneider, and Conway. As of now I really want Prime, however it looks like it is my long-shot. Schneider is almost a guaranteed position however the regional that was open to new grads was not on the site anymore so I hope that it will post by the time I am done with school. I am still trying to get in touch with a Conway recruiter but that as been slow. I will let you know what happens. You all have been VERY helpful. By September I should be on the road!

Oh also my wife is willing to move to Texas as long as we are seaside. If anyone knows any good companies out of Houston and will let me live near Galveston I am all ears! I won;t move until I do my one year out here but it is good to start planning now. Remember, "Prior Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance."

Is 3 to 4 weeks out with 3 to 4 days home industry standard? I also found out Prime does not run regional. I do not want to go into NYC. Schneider seems like the most likely candidate as no one from Con-Way has been that helpful. I want to run 11 state regional and transition to a local gig with someone. Anyone have anymore advice?

Try giving ASD out of fontana a call. I just graduated from there using my 100% pist 911 bwnefit. They include everything...no out of pocjet expense at all. they covered dot exam, cdl lic written exam, all endorsements including hazmat, which cost $86.50 when u do your fingerprints and background checks. they evwn covered my gas on weekly basis coz i didnt want to live in the hotel while training.
I called schneider and conway week prior to graduation... i was set on conway but didnt want to travel to Missouri by greyhound bus for a day and a half travel... schneider offered regional dry van which alliws only 11 western states and texas. Didnt really look forward to going to northeast...ny, etc...
    good.luck to you.

pick eithet schneider or conway...they have the military apprenticeship progeam which the va will pay u directly for one year... first six.months $1100/month and last six around $890 a month.. it helps since the first year of work is not much money..so it will help out until u get one year of experience.
