Q. What is the cost for a driver to attend driving school?
A. The Schneider Training Academy offers training at almost no cost to you if you remain employed with Schneider National for at least 18 months following training.
So, if Schneider is now providing $200 per month (or $50 per week) towards the training cost, that means that at the end of 18 months, they will have paid $3,600.00. With the total cost of training being $5,857, that leaves the student owing a balance of $2,257.
It also seems that the $200 may be paid directly to the student, and it'll be up to them to use it towards their school payments. And the student may need to be prepared to start paying the monthly $163 payment to STA immediately, depending on the date they stipulate in the contract.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I am starting with Schneider next month, and just want to clarify the costs of their school. The actual cost of their school is $4500, and you will start paying this back to them the first week you work with them. They will deduct $12.50 from weekly paychecks and Schneider pays $50 per $12.50 that the employee pays. After the first $3600 has been paid, the employee will then be responsible for the last $900.
That is not too bad of a deal in my book. -
Weird I was quoted just recently $13.59 per week and Schneider pays $56 and change weekly for your schooling. Nice part is Starting Oct 1 there is a penny raise for newbie and 4 cent for experienced plus if you stay 2 years you get $1,000 bonus. Only things concerns me, I have spoke to some one else just recently and they were quoted a different amount they will pay also. I wonder if each school you train at the cost is different? But either way not a bad deal, considering most CDL mills are $4995.00 for 2 weeks of training plus interest if you don't pay cash. Still there are several companies who do it for free if you sign on for 8 months to 1 year.

It very well could be a different price depending on the school. The recruiters must tell people different things, because they told me that the current rate for newbies is $.28/mile, going to $.30/mile after the end of September.

I was told just today at a job fair that you pay $12.50 and Schneider pays $50 per week for 18months . They say on their website 18 months for no cost.
-
Houdini, are you going to be starting with Schneider?
-
Yeah but you still owe $900 at the end of 18 months, I just had my interview 2 days ago with them. I still haven't decided to go with them or not. 18 months is a long time to commit when ya just don't know enough about them. 1 year I can see but 18 months. Reading these post it can be eventful at least or a nightmare, but that seems to be everywhere. Again why are we getting into this industry? Hurry someone give me words of encouragement.
