I was curious if you knew how often they run their CDL training programs? I plan on going with them and wanted to time it right sometime in May with the company. Didn't know if you knew or could find out somehow? Best of luck to you with the program! Keep us posted on how it goes there.

went to the career fair this morning found out alot of stuff alot i already knew from reading their recruitment site and alot i didnt know, the recruiter was supprisingly straight forward with me. turns out that if you live in ct you can't do sni training because ct dmv is a pain about getting you a quick test date. another thing that kinda made me upset was he told me that sni nolonger does tuition reimbursement for private trucking schools, he said that hopefully theyll be bringing it back soon as theyve seen a drop in new recruits. so i guess im going to be going back to NETTTS and getting my class a. my first choice will probly still be sni just because i like what ive read and heard.

anybody out there working for sni? what kind of hometime do you average? the recruiter told me for the van national fleet id be looking at 2-3 weeks out 2-3 days home, is that about average? that was one question i was expecting to get the run around on but he answered it pretty straight forwardly.

jasontrucker whats going on hope everythings turning out alright.

from what i heard today im pretty sure they run the full cdl course every two weeks, and if you already have your cdl, a class starts every week.

    Hello all,

To those interested SNI, SNI seems to be cutting back on the recruiting and will soon mostly be taking only experienced drivers. I've heard this from various instructors, and it's not surprising with the way the economy is going. The classes are getting smaller and smaller, mine started with only 7 and so far 2 dropped, classes used to be more like 20 people. So I'd make my move ASAP.

I'm really exhausted and the lack of sleep is hitting me hard, just not used to this schedule. I'm going to bed early enough but sometimes it is a restless sleep. Thank god I got a single room.

Today is when things really started to click for me, it's the 3rd day of driving the big rig on the road. Today I had 40k lbs of liquid in my tanker. The other 2 days was very very nerve racking driving on the road, just when you get comfortable the instructor pushes you out of your comfort zones, they seem to want to overwhelm you. My shifting is getting smoother, bump and run is improving, even adapted to skip shifting quite well today, buttonhook turns are getting better, basically it's all coming together. Did only some backing today, that is my greatest challenge for sure. Tomorrow is all backing so I help that helps.

It's a real roller coaster, sometimes I feel great about how I'm driving, other times I think I can't cut it and feel ######. Right now I feel good, for now, but tomorrow they will push my comfort zones again, it's constant. Just when you get used to a new skill , they push you out of your comfort zones.

    Need sleep :biggrin_2556:

Every saturday they have new classes, the newbies are checking in tonight and I'll get to see them tomorrow on the bus ride over. feels good to have a week under my belt here, that first day was real awkward and tense.

been out on the road with a broak laptop jason to answer your question bout laptops ive seen people who rig them up just be careful when you use them if you have one and get in a wreck it can be called driver negligence even if you were paying atteneion, my suggestion and what i have is a simple garmin gps (going to upgrade when the price of the cmv versions come down) and then use google maps at night.

sni will never go to an all experienced driver fleet there to big they are going to try to keep as many experienced drivers instead of being a training mill thats why there new pay package is one of the best now if only they paid practicle instead of hhg but im sure thats going to come in the next year when people leave for crete and others who do pay practicle miles

Agreed. Schneider's fleet is way to big. I don't think they'd be able to hire enough experienced drivers to satisfy their demands!
