Yea, really, I wouldn't say SNI is more difficult. They have their way of doing things, and they will teach you that way. It is that simple. I went to school, and then went straight to SNI, I had to learn a few things differently than I learned in school but it was no big deal

SNI does not expect you to be an expert in shifting and driving when you get to orientation, they know you are new, and know you will make mistakes. Heck, my second day at orientation driving I shifted on a RR track!! I brain farted....I didn't get sent home, and I am still with the company running solo months and months later. Don't sweat it. Do people get sent home from orientation? Yes, we had 2. One failed his drug test....duh! The other was having a really hard time shifting, he couldn't even get out of the OC parking lot. They tried to work with him for 3 days, and he was not improving. What did they do? They told him to go home, take a refresher course, and he would be welcome back to orientation.

Carlisle is a nice OC, clean, nice people. Cafeteria is ok, but I don't really care for the cafeteria's at most OC's, Dallas is the worst tho LOL.

Fontana O.C used to have the best food, however it's been a cpl years since i've been out there. The Burgers at west memphis used to be the best but they changed them. Sni is a good all around company and definitely a great company for newbies to learn the basics of trucking however they are pretty good for experienced driver's too. For all those who recently have come on board with Sni...... Welcome aboard. You've made a great decision.

Is Schneider known for dropping your miles when you've been there a few years and start making more cpm?

I am signing up to do northeast regional because I need to be a responsible husband and come home once a week..( I say that with some degree of sarcasm) but what I really want is to run OTR. I wonder if SNI would allow a driver to cross over from regional to OTR for a few months...then back again... Any opinions or experiences like that out there?

Not that I'm aware of. I talked to an 18 year vet last weekend. He had no complaints. Other than the fact they handed him back the same load he had dropped the day before.

Most Schneider drivers I've met having issue with miles. Are bringing it on themselves.

Lack of communication will do it every time.

This....every time I talk to a driver who complains about their miles, it always seems like they brought it on themselves.

Most guys I see complain about miles tell me they don't need to send in mac18's cause the planners know when they are done!:biggrin_25523:

    Hi All,

Sorry if this is an old question, but does Schneider provide any paid training? I used to have a CDL in a previous life and then turned into a desk jockey.

Also, do companies such as Schneider require team driving configurations?

In today's OTR scenario, what happens to a driver's income when he or she is stuck in heavy traffic?

Thanks for any newbie answers you can give me. I need to look at something different.

    Happy Thanksgiving Weekend.

    Fred

    Swapping.....

Technically, no. Truthfully, yes. In other words, if you do your job and play well with others they'll let you. Otherwise, they'll refer to the handbook and quote it to you.

    6 months between swaps.

I'm very glad I ran across this thread. Hello folks. Passed the test just yesterday out of Roadmaster in Columbus Oh. I applied and recieved the "prehire" phone call the next day. another small hoop to jump through was the online authorization for checks on me. Got the phone call the very next day to set up a phone interview this coming Monday.

Of the 4 "prehires" I have out of school , Schnieder is in the top two.The terminal I would work out of is a suburb of Columbus. Looking at 6 on 3 off.

The other company I'm looking at is a smaller outfit. 120 driver 130 truck operation, hauling steel.

I already have a passport card and Homeland Secutrity/TSA approval for Hazmat. Just need to pass the written .As I understand it , these 2 are a preference for Schnieder. At least for the region I would run.

Honest answers please. As a new first year driver, how much can I expect to average in pay ?
I do realize I need to gain the experience to be paid better, etc.
