Days 1-5 (tues thru Sat morning) at an OC doing a new physical (we had too many med cards signed by doctors not on the list), a pre work screen (are you physically fit enough to check a king pin with out collapsing), road checks, backing range, HOS, etc.

Days 6-13 On the road with a trainer

    Day 14 reset

Day 15-18 back at an OC for trip planning, map reading, skill remediation, hazmat, load sediment, and other "soft skills".

Schneider still uses manual transmission trucks, they havent made the switch to all automatic and probably wont for years at the rate theyre moving. The guy who said all the cascadias are automatics is a liar, every schneider cascadia Ive been in was manual, and I still drive a manual 10 speed. Watch out for all the bad information on this forum and dont beleive everything you read.

Not a refresher. All "inexperienced drivers" go thru it. About 1/3 who show up to day 1 don't pass orientation.

There's those that think they've passed the drug test they took before coming up.

There's those who show up without the proper paperwork (ie license)

There are those who don't know how to shift or back and don't want to listen and learn. It constantly amazes me the number of people who have a CDL who can't pass our road test.

Finally there are those whose attitude is piss poor. They pick fights with other new hires, they make insensitive comments, etc
