    Union are teamsters. Just google it wherever you live.

    Go down and introduce yourself.

    It's tough getting in, but if you do, you're set.

    Look at FedEx and UPS. UPS you have to do 3 or 4 years in the warehouse sorting packages to get a shot at being a package delivery guy. Then it's $40 hour with a ton of OT forever.

    Trucking is a very big industry.

    Think about what you want to do in 3 years.

    Critically important you keep your record clean and don't job hop that first year.

    In regard to sliding the tandems all the way back, I've heard others say this too. I've done it when there is room, but when there isn't, I back into the spot, then slide them. Do you do this at a T/S too where it's tight? If so, how do you account for lengthening the pivot point?

    If interested see if you can train for their tanker division should be better money out the gate and definitely more money in the long run. Sounds like your heading to Gary In. Pretty sure Gary is a terminal that trains for tanker

    That pay is a joke. You would make more at McDonald’s.

    If I can at all get away with it. I'll do it. Was at one place so tight. Had to just to get the trailer in. Had a spotter too. Before I got in. The jostler went in the back for a trailer. When he came out. He couldn't get by me. Had to wait for me to unload.
    Taught by a jostler. To get tighter. Can turn forward jacknife as much as possible. He watched to make sure I didn't hit my truck. Back from there can be awfully tight. My cab was sideways while on that dock.
    A spotter can make or break you. Good one. Had one who knew the place. Spotted me blind side. When we got done. I was six inches from the trailer on my blind side. Never touched anything. He was really good.

    @Taker11 --

    One thing I would change about your Schneider game plan.....

    If possible (and I think it is, if they really want you on board) -- postpone your orientation start until after the first of the year.

    Onboarding anywhere during the holidays will invite problems -- that will not occur afterwards.

    Consider asking your recruiter to reschedule your start date after January 1.
