I hate to argue, but how were drivers fired to keep insurance rates down? The last I knew Schnieder was self insured. Which means they a bonds in place only pay out on at fault accidents.
SNI does have many problems...just like all companies, big or small. Their biggest one is lack of communication. many of the drivers they have let go were for decent reasons, but I'm sure that some were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Are they currently hiring inexperienced drivers
-
As far as I know Schneider is only hiring experienced drivers and o/o. I hear different reports on the amount of experience they want, but it ranges from 6 months to 3 years. So far I haven't got a direct answer from anybody to confirm any certain amount.

I'm a 14 year driving verteran. I start orientation with Schneider this Sunday till Thursday, in Atlanta. Although I am going to be on a dedicated account. I just happened to catch the recruiter at the right time, I guess. I'll let ya know how it goes.
-
Yeah yeah you're ALL going to be on a dedicated account yup... till orientation is done and they say "Oops all filled up we have you 2nd in line on the waiting list." 3 months later your are still OTR. Yeah guess who fell for that bs.
-
When I was in Schneider school about 1/2 were on dedicated accounts from the start. -and I stlll am.
Alot of that depends where your home base (or OC) is.
Dedicated accounts are not all the same. I would say my work is 80% dedicated right now mainly due to the recession -at one time it was closer to 50%.
If you are dedicated into food or low dollar retail -they have the loads in this economy. Starting out at Schneider at low pay (26-28cpm) and no raises may be
tough. Dedicated also makes 2cpm less generally.Coolbreeze and Baack Thank this. -
Thanks for the info Badsey. The dedicated account I will be on, is 15 miles from my home, here in Atlanta. I will be making a little less per mile, per the recruiter, due to the homtime I will be gettting.

I start my new position with Schneider on Monday. We started out with ten guys in the orientation, and ended up with only five that made it through. The first day we did a fitness test. They checked our normal heart rate, then match that to our age. Then gave us a target heart rate, that if we went over, would disqualify us from employment. We then did about eight exercises, and after each one they checked our heart rate to see if we went over the target rate. For example, I'm 34 so my heart rate couldn't go over 165. During all exercises my rate didn't get above 116. Two guys were let go during this test. Both were pretty over weight, and seemed to be quit a bit older than myself. Then two guys failed the driving test.(btw, it wasn't hard at all.) Another guy decided that Schneider wasn't for him and left.
I'll be on the dedicated JC Penny account, just like the recruiter told me. Schneider is now only hiring experienced drivers. Not sure how much experience you need though. They are also getting rid of any driver that has logging issues. In orientation, they told us that you'll get three chances to correct the problem, then you'll be fired. You must log it like you run it! The instructor said they fired about 40 drivers last week across the board for logging and other violations. They also told us that Schneider will be going to paperless logs soon. They are getting about 400 new trucks in the next couple months. As well as the up to date Qualcomm that talks. Myself and three other JC Penny drivers are actually going from Atlanta, to the Carlisle Pa terminal to pick up our trucks on Monday. Schneider is renting two cars for us to go up. That's it for now! Ya'll be safe!! -
the logging issues have some discrepancies. one example is comdata and when they transmit their data to the company. you may be fueling at 4am in amarillo; however, comdata will transmit to company that you fueled four hours later causing a discrepancy on your log book. your next issue is how could i be doing that when i was somewhere else four hours later!

And still is. You are correct.
