It is all about the cost of hiring a driver and the history of higher turn over rates. Don't know SNI's numbers but TCA has Orlando south at over 200% industry turn over. Doesn't matter how much you say you understand what it is about, they have heard it all before.

Miami Trucker, i used to Drive for another driver in his truck at CRST Malone. This was before i bought my tractor 4 months ago. I called CRST recruiter to see if i could do the Lease Purchase, they said that they were not hiring Drivers from Florida. Only Jacksonville! I said OK no problem. I was 50/50 anyways to do this deal! Then i asked someone in Administration that was taking a smoke break outside. He told me that the problem is that in the past, Drivers from Miami where quitting and did no wanted to bring the tractors back to Birmingham. No imagine going to Miami on CRST expense, no back loads comes out of Florida. So they said thats why they will not hire from south Florida. It could be tha same for Schneider?

The things I liked about the program were..

I could plan my entire week in one day.. If I was home, open the computer, launch the load board and I had loads and rates at my fingertips.. Weights, drop/hook etc..The problem with doing this is once you commit to those loads it takes an executive order to get off them.. So if you commit to load that pays (example) $1.65 mile and has a dead head of 100 miles (unpaid) then you see a "new" load that has dead head of 10 miles and pays $2.00 mile.. To bad.

You are in complete control of your destiny.. No one calls you, heck I never heard from ANYONE after going on load board.

I made money, but I could have made more..I became my worst enemy. Like I said above, I planned out my entire week..Leave early Monday morning, all light loads, all drop hook..but I was deadheading hundreds of miles a week and I was back home Friday afternoon..

I got lazy and home time with a cold beer and my Harley became more important than paying for the truck..so I turned it in..not very honorable but it's the truth.

I'd try to go back if heaven forbid it didn't work out at my present company.

    good luck

Hey Brother, thanks for the honesty. I am working with them now. @dsgb, They want at least 6 months OTR experience and then told me they would have no problem sliding me over to the other side. I am looking forward to the next step. Thanks again! Drive Safe. p.s. Just went down for my hazmat endorsement. 29 out of 30. Wooowho!
